In this post, I respond to the points by Zod05 that he made while saying he didn't want to continue the argument (while putting in one last word apparently). ZOD95 NEED NOT READ THIS. I just felt the need to get my own response out there
"1 - Map Size: area that the player can step into. If cars can go off the road, that area counts too."
—He missed the point I was making with those two examples of why his objective criterion was not as objective as he thought. For this one example, we haven't seen any evidence in this thread that the figures he gave for those racing games match the restriction he just gave above. For the other example, my argument that racing game map area has little content and it's therefore "easier" to have large playable area went unchallenged.
"2 - British racing games and very different from American racing games and any fan of the genre can tell you that. Also, there are British devs that make American-style racing games."
—I feel that the second part actually is evidence supporting my point. As for the first, it doesn't add anything to the question of whether A/B racing games are different genres or whether they are as different as J/WRPGs.
"3 - I have Eye Of Judgment so I can tell you that's a puzzle-style game. There are 9 holes and the first to conquer 5 wins. You don't just throw the cards on the table, you, you plan a way to fit them well in the field (like a chess game) depending on the type of cards you have. Either that can be puzzle or puzzle can't be a genre (if it's too specific)."
—Zod just said that EOJ is a puzzle game because players have to use strategy "like a chess game". To me it would be ridiculous to suggest that chess is a puzzle or a puzzle game. However, I could still be convinced EOJ is a puzzle game if there is a better argument to be had.
