With no data to back me up, I observe that the PS3 sales pickup in EU and Australia correlates with the release of the 12G model. Just sayin.

This was a great idea! ...... in 2010 or 2011! Seriously, it's been 7 years and still the price in NA is 269. Drop the fucking price already.

my PS3's 300GB HDD failed. so I had to get one of those snap-on 360 hard drives I had laying around. I have 20GB and hate it. I can't imagine just having 12.
It's just an option.
Of course if you buy a 12GB one and then tons and games then its the wrong option... but nothing wrong with choice. I have lots of 2.5 inch drives sitting around, would i rather buy the more expensive one even though its effectively the same.. no I would get a cheaper one.
The key is to give users the choice.

The price drops corresponded with 90nm -> 65nm -> 45nm
There is no 32nm Cell so no price cut.
If realease this 12GB model it is possible PS3 sell 50K every month in north america.
The rumor gets a date... August 18th.

If the above rumor is true, then the GTA bundle just got a $30 price drop. Tretton said at the E3 conference the GTA bundle would cost 300 dollars.
