The Vita is definitly rebounding in Japan. If it continue to get the same level of support it will start overselling the 3DS there because of market saturation.

In the west, its unlikely. The 3DS has the advantage that Nintendo games are popular in the west aswell. Vita is almost exclusively dependent on Japan and Sony's games dont have the same broader appeal. Sony is also not one to support a system as Nintendo does. Actually Sony seems to not care much about the Vita in terms of internal development. If not for SCEE and SCEJ, this year we would've seen no Sony games on the system. SCEA is definitly not pulling their weight and it shows in sales numbers. Dumbasses like Pachter telling everyone Sony should drop the Vita are not helping anyone as Sony cant do that.

With that said, since the start i said the Vita was ahead of its time. The Vita will have its prime. But, this prime wont come until exclusives start piling up like they have in Japan (yeah some have PSP versions, but the difference in quality is clear).
If the JRPGs come over, Sony keeps supporting the system and keeps bringing those japan only games to the west the Vita will eventually pick up when they line up a bit more than 2-3 high profile titles. The potencial is there, its just beeing held back by the steep price (the memory cards in particular) and the lack of definitive support.

Personally, Ys 4 makes it worth it by itself this year. SEGA needs to smart up and bring PSO2 and next year would be a delight with God EAter 2. Its not a catalog as rich as the 3DS has, but its definitly enough to justify the purchase (+PS4 remote play).

I'll be satisfied with success in Japan, as long as they bring the Japanese titles over. I'd love using my PS Vita as a JRPG machine.

but seriously probably not, 3DS is just owning the market and there is nothing the vita can do about it when pokemon comes out. Plus the 3DS could bring out a new model as early as next year
