Did you get Disgaea too ?

I didn't get it cause of my saves, but it's a good damn set of JRPGs =D

And did you bother playing as Velvet, Mercedes or What's her name (I seriously can't remember her name)

I already beat Disgaea Hour of Darkness (PS2) like a couple of years ago (have like 300+ hours clocked into it after several New Game+ playthroughs) before the PS3 came out and beat Disgaea 2 on PSP like last year or so. I plan to play the PSP version of Disgaea 1 again since I love Disgaea 1 - cant wait for D2!

Planning to get Disgaea 3 on Vita when I get a Vita (and hopefully 4 comes over to NA for the Vita).

Odin Sphere, I completed the game with all of the characters and saw all of their endings. Oswald my fav *_* - I didnt like Velvet that much, mercedes was too easy to play as since she was OP imo XD, Gwendolyn I enjoyed her storyline the most. Oswald X Gwendolyn 4 lyfe!!!!!! XD

Edit: Dammit to hell now I feel like playing it again n_n... I hope they remake it/or have a enhanced port and release it on Vita, would get it!

Dragon's crown =D

Did you make a God on D1 ? (21m attack (??? after 9.999.999)) It takes between 300 and 500 hours.

Most people hated mercedes because the gameplay was too shmupy >>

D2 is on my must buy list, I have D3 and my friend won't lend me D4 =(

Still, these who claims JRPG death must not be able to look for games, NIS, Atlus, Vanillaware, even Compa (but you have to like the style) and Idea Factory (Cladun !)

Male almost exclusively. Lara is the obvious exception. In her case I kind of feel like the underdog which makes me want to kick some ass. Other than that and party-based RPGs where I
end up playing as a fem I play as a male. The reason is immersion and if I'm building a character from scratch he's usually an idealized me in one form or another. I can't relate to fems as well.

Maybe it's based on the old protection meme and I still don't want to put them in danger? So I don't even create them. Problem solved! IDK. As long as I'm being introspective I haven't played Bayonetta or Mirror's Edge but I think most of my decision making there is an aversion to long button combos or based on $/hr and replay value.

I don't play games to look at female bods and if characters are over sexualized it usually just makes me feel bad for the writers/artists and like a bit of a geek myself. That said it's nice if some of the secondary characters have a nice shape as long as they're believable and not some schoolboy's wetdream.

Does it strike anyone else as funny that in all those first-person games it just doesn't matter? Nice gun though. Now let's consider why I prefer carbines to rocket launchers. Or not.

Most gamers are males. That is the reason. Not sexism.

How come it prevents them from playing a female protagonist ? I like to play with female protagonist (it sounds wrong)

And 45% of gamers are female.

I think that study is flawed. I don't think playing candy crush are fruit ninja on your phone, makes you a gamer. hahahahaha!!!!!!

You do know that Kingdom Hearts is known to have a bigger female fanbase than males, right ?

There are a lot of female core gamers (29% is a lot), but a lot of them hide their gender online because of these kind of consideration.

I remember a video on COD where the female gamer speak on the mic, she's the best player of the map and yet she is told to "Go back to the kitchen" and "Play cooking Mama". And I quote.

I don't care as long as the game is good and it isn't embarrassing if someone was to watch me play it on my screen and I have to explain myself why my character is doing something weird.

Well, as long as they have a hole and I can fuck it. Everything is good.

No I did not get to n_n - I will attempt to do so in my future playthrough XD.

I dont think I've played any games from Compa (all I get is this when I search for them XD: http://hyperdimensionneptunia.wikia.com/wiki/Compa)  but I have some from Idea Factory and to the companies they are associated with in the past : Waiting for Record of Agarest War to come out on Steam!

People tend to only look at titles made by the big companies (i.e. Sony, Nintendo, Capcom, Squareenix, and Namco) rather than looking forward to titles from other developers because they either never heard of them, dont want to get into the series because they arent big and well known, or are too stingy to expand over from their usual franchises that they play often - and because of that they tend to forget the jRPG genre and consider it dead.

You would think that with the indie revolution going on, people would be more interested in smaller companies.

Let's face it, they are now the most profitable, Nippon ichi is doing great, and is in the guiness book for the most T-RPGs created by a company.

Neptunia is worth 15-25 euros depending how much you hate grinding.

Compa = Compile Hearts, they are making fairy fencer F, wich is supported by amano and uematsu.

If there is an option, I usually play as a female character for a change of pace. I find it a bit more interesting. Also, a lot of times the female character is the finesse/skill option, which fits with my play-style. I almost never go with brute force characters, male or female.

However, I have zero problems with most main characters being male. None at all. Most console gamers are male and it's a lot easier for some people to identify with their own sex. My mother reads a lot of suspense/mystery novels, for example, and she prefers a female protagonist, especially if they're closer to her age. Because of that, I find the "adolescent male fantasies" criticism absurd. Males and females of all ages like characters they can identify with, it's as simple as that. Bashing guys in particular for that is just low-grade, child-level psychology.

There is also the problem of forcing artists and writers to change a character's sex. It's wrong to do that with female characters but it's also wrong to do that with male characters. We shouldn't be saying, "there needs to be more female characters," we should be saying, "developers shouldn't be pressured one way or the other."

Interesting. I only play as a female character if shes convincing.
