Yeah Nintendo "saved" gaming or whatever after the crash, so that's huge and all...but without Sony, video game consoles would just be kids toys. Sony brought way more adult/mature games to the table, bringing gaming to adults, and also made them home entertainment centres with the PS2 being a DVD/CD player, and the PS3 being a Blu-ray player.

It's like comparing apples to oranges, comparing the innovations done by Nintendo and Sony, both are massively important, and gaming would be non-existent or weak as fuck at best without them.

Nintendo has had 3 revolutionary consoles: NES, 64, Wii.
Sony has had two: PS1 and PS2.
Microsoft has just had the 360.

I suppose it depends upon your gaming priorities and when you started gaming.

Even though I haven't been a fan of Nintendo's in many years, they more or less single handedly resurrected the home console and video gaming in '85. As someone who lived through the gaming industry crash of '83, it was as though home video games had been invented all over again. I never bought a Sega Master System.

Sony's biggest contribution to the industry was catering to developers and making a developer friendly platform in the original PS which included using optical media and the cheap, volumes of space it offered over expensive, solid state chips. Developer's resource libraries facilitated easier game development and in general made it easier for more games to get published and thereby played.

And of course, MS revolutionized online play with XBL. Where online play was more of a novelty back during the cartridge days and the slightly improved services available on the Dreamcast and PS2, it really wasn't until the XB that online gaming became a lot more like online PC gaming of the time, only with a unified structure, making it more accessible and easier to use.

Sony and MS are both building off the foundation they set after the crash in the 80's.

Without listing what they have done for gaming its the sheer number of consoles Nintendo has had that many fail to take into note. I mean Sony has done alot of good for the overall gaming industry but the most? Not by far heck Sega has done more IMO then Sony and MS overall for the wellness of the gaming industry.

Just count Nintendo's consoles,which is at what now 13 14 overall? To MS's 2 and Sony's 5,that alone would swing my vote to Nintendo.

Nintendo saved gaming. Without them, there's no Playstation OR Xbox.
