Forums - PC - What can I drop to get this rig under $2000?

So I asked you guys to give me some suggestions on a gaming PC and help build me one recently.  Well I went to one of the sites you recommended in that thread and http://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Chimera_4-E1/c/4317184 that's what I came up with.

1. Should this be able to run most next gen games on max settings 60fps?

2. Is it too powerful or could it run on multiple monitors because I really don't need that or 120fps

3. Any cost cutting that could get it under $2000 and still keep it at max settings 60fps.  Note that this will be my PC for other things so I do want to have the office software for school and such and a good CPU for the future for fast multitasking.

Well it seems the link just takes you to the default measure but basically I put it so it said it could BF3 and Crysis 3 on max.  Can you build me one for under $2000 that does that and keeps the office software and good CPU?  Sorry I tried to link to my customized one but apparently can't do that

$2000 seems high for a rig that you only need to run current games at max settings/60 FPS. I'm by no means an expert, but for the results you're looking for you shouldn't have to spend more than $1500 max. and probably even less than that if you were willing to build the rig yourself.

That graphics card is pretty weak. If I'm looking at it correctly you chose the Nvidia GeForce GT 610.

Yeah, I just looked at the link you posted, and I have no idea how that rig is costing you $2000. It's only got an i5 processor and a lower end Nvidia GPU, and 8 gigs of RAM.

I'd honestly recommend ordering the parts from Newegg.com and building it yourself. For $2000 you'll be able to build a rig that's twice as good as the one you linked.

Edit: And I just realized the price for the rig you linked is $979, not $2000. That makes a lot more sense.

You can get the "AMD Radeon HD 7750 - 1GB" it is 24$ more from the looks of it and it is much better than the NVidia one that you chose. Definitely worth paying just 24$ more. I might be wrong so if anyone know better than me they can correct me on this.

read the edit for some reason I couldn't link to my personal build but I gave what I wanted.  Not sure what I'm overdoing it on but it always seems to come out to that.  Keep in mind I'm adding on a monitor to get some good resolution that I can actually see.

So when you click on the link it resets the settings to nothing, so isn't very useful!

Just a point, I have an Asus 670, so if you go for a 780, then you should absolutely be able to play everything in 60FPS

The only thing I can't play in 1080p60fps is Far Cry 3, but that is only in the system's first year of life

The graphics card I want to be a little future proof so maybe I'm overspending.  Also I'm thinking the CPU and/or motherboard I may be overdoing it's hard to get a read on it cause I'm not super tech savy.  Keep in mind I'm factoring in monitor so that's a big chunk.

Could you tell me what the graphics card/processor/Ram is on the 2000$ one you customized?

When making a gaming rig, your GPU cost should be roughly equal to the cost of everything else.

For example, the rig below will be able to run games on single or multiple monitors for many years to come:

Phenom II X4 965 - $99
MSI 970 G46 SLI mobo - $89
8 GB 1600 MHz 9-9-9-24 ram - $70
700 Watt brand name SLI capable PSU - $80
Brand name mid tower case - $70
120 GB SSD as boot drive - $90
1 TB HDD - $60

and

GTX 760 4 GB X 2 in SLI = $600

$1158 total
