Mario hands down. I'm a pretty casual Nintendo gamer (just not my cup of tea) yet I still feel like I grew up with Mario!!! I was born in the 80's and Pacman was big growing up... but NEVER was nearly the icon Mario became, maintained, and still is today... Mario today is maybe bigger than he has ever been... and that is a scary thought... (scary in a good way).. So definitely Mario, and I'm no Nostradamus but I think your poll should reflect this very obvious answer (; lol

Pacman without a doubt. Mario is a big one too.

You know, even people who grew up with no video games can actually identify Mario. Pac-man, not so much.

EVERYBODY knows who these characters are.

Even my 3 years old niece knows who Mario and Pikachu are, and she has never played their games.

I actually find it funny that we have Spyro and Crash on the poll. Wait, now that I think about it, it's not even funny.

Pre-generation X to Baby Boomers: Pacman

Generation X: Mario, Sonic, Cloud, Snake, Pikachu, Donkey Kong, Crash bandicoot (mascot generation)

Generation Y: Pikachu, Mario

Mario has to be the most recognizable character right now. PacMan isn't as relevant as he use to be. I'm sure if you ask a younger kid who PacMan is he wouldn't be able to tell you.
