There is no pause... and that's the local MP (that didn't exists on PC)... the online MP is like in PC and the people didn't need to stay in the same screen.

There are support for LAN MP too... like the online but over a LAN.

I think they meant that the other people have to wait for inventory management while one person is doing it, so it's a pause in playing the game while the game is still running with no game pause.

I'm pretty sure they understand that it's only during local coop.
