The low sales are the problem: low sales, low manufacturing, no economies of scale, no reduction in manufacturing costs.

It's just a bad place for them, and this is part of the reason why they're pushing eShop so heavily, to try to alleviate the damage.

But you can buy the Wii U for over 100 $/€ lower than the offical price.

That's the retailer taking a hit, not Nintendo.
