I never owned MKWii, only played it a few times at a friends house but I owned Double Dash and played the shit out of it so ill say Double Dash.

| RolStoppable said: Mario Kart Wii wasn't easy. In fact, on this forum we had people crying over how hard it was to get three star rankings. Now why is MK Wii better than DD? 1) Customizable four player GPs. 2) No snaking, thus actual racing. Emphasized by the miniboost system that rewarded you for entering turns at the correct angle like it should be in a racing game. 3) Not as easy as DD. Touching walls or going off track in DD didn't get properly punished. 4) Better item balance. DD's character-specific items made the game lopsided. 5) More tracks, more options, online. It's also a myth that there is a higher frequency of blue shells in MK Wii. 1-2 per race are also the norm in DD, outliers of 0 or 3 every now and then also happen in both games. |
Who says that? I've never come close in MK Wii to my MK DD record of seven blue shells in a race.

Absolutely mk64. Its so simple yet so perfect.
Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.
Mario Kart Wii is way better; the Karts handled tightly instead of like dune buggies.
The only thing better about DD was the tracks.
MKWii is just a fundamentally better mario kart game

I agree with the bolded, in terms of difficulty however I thought it was fun. Playing with friends is always a good time, and playing online adds lots of replay value.
OT: Double Dash for me. It had a certain charm to it that I didn't get with Mario Kart Wii. I liked the two people on the kart in double dash, Mario Kart Wii just felt too simplistic.
I have played every single mario kart, and Double Dash has always been my least favorite . To be honest the DS really had the best actual game (mission mode was a great addition) but I had the most fun with the snes and N64 versions.

It's an odd phenomenom that the GC and its software gets so much praise on the internet, but it comes down to three reasons: 1) The majority of the internet gaming community is made up of 15-20 year old gamers. This means the GC falls right into the timeframe when these gamers grew up which in turn means that everything during that time left stronger and more memorable impressions on them. 2) The majority of the internet gaming community takes pride in being hardcore and the GC doesn't have casual stench attached to it. As a rule of thumb, the hardcore must praise unpopular things and spit on popular things. The hardcore don't want to be thought of as sheep that go with the flow. Playing the same games as the masses is only deemed okay when the hive mind allows it which ironically makes the hardcore more sheepish than the masses who play the games they want. 3) There are also people that you can clearly identify as not real Nintendo fans who seemingly are in love with the GC. That is because Nintendo stayed within their box and left the market to the big boys. Nintendo is accepted as a hardware manufacturer as long as what they do doesn't interfere with the rest of the industry. The Wii U is set to follow the GC's footsteps, it's just that right now many of the hardcore are still confused by its name. They think it's a Wii successor when it is in fact a follow-up to the GC. Once that has dawned on them as well once it's set that Nintendo won't have much of a market presence in the home console space, we should begin to see more praise for the Wii U and its exclusive games (perhaps in 2016). Right now we are still in a period of fear that Nintendo could turn around the Wii U, hence why a topic that asks if games like DKC or SM3DW are system sellers is answered with a "no". |
So much truth in this post, best I've read on here in a long, long time.
Double dash was more fun out of the 2, but MK64 is still better i think.

Best words to discribe this game, too simple.
