I used to be pretty lenient when it came to collecting games, but now I'm starting to become more strict. I am now trying to only get games if they are complete (including cartridge based consoles) and original release (no Greatest Hits). My question, how strict are you with your game collecting?

well because i collect classics to play them it doesent bother me too much. if im looking a game to collect i wont take a greatest hits, i look for a collectors, new if not complete in great condition. its totally understandable

In order of importance:

1. No greatest hits, it makes the box look so ugly, especially PS1 games.

2. Must be in good condition, don't want it if its covered in scratches.

3. If its a CD must be complete, but if its a cartridge it is not that big of a deal.

I'm only as strict as everyone else is. If a game has value without the instructions then it doesn't bother me. It just depends on the price. I will buy a game if i can get it for cheaper than its worth or if i think it will be worth more in future. I know the value of most games on all Nintendo, Sega, and PS systems off the top of my head. I also buy games to play for fun of course, but if they lose value quickly i would rather wait for a while for them to drop in price. I can tell you i picked up Fire Emblem on wii and Metroid Prime Trilogy for $7 each this year.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

I try to get all the pieces, and have so far on all my games. I also try to take good care of them.

I'm happy to have a 'Greatest Hits' with all or most of the DLC. I'm someone that is more interested in having game to play than collecting.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Well, it depends... I'd get GH's titles, but, I'm not waiting to get anything I want. When it comes to PS3.
Not collecting PS2 games anymore... or PS1.

But, with Genesis, I just want the game. No case, no booklet, I just want the game, and it must have the label in good or better condition. I don't want games with serious label damage, or missing label entirely.

My game of sonic 3 was missing the label entirely when i got in 2004. It was rare, and kinda far at that. But, I snatched it up since I didn't have a choice. Eventually, I'll have to buy a new one. Yes, just because of the label.

Quack shot is one label I seriously screwed up when i was little. Ripped the entire thing off except for the black that reads "SEGA GENESIS". So, I'll be buying another quack shot eventually too.

As long as it works, and it has the box. I don't mind it in a used condition. But no greatest hits. Why can't they just re-release the stupid games without all that bar crap thrown everywhere. We seriously don't need this:

It's completely strict regarding originals. I try to complete it as much as I can xD

Usually I don't care to much, as I "collect" most games to play them. When it comes to certain games that I really like though (like the Fire Emblem series), I try to make sure to get the games boxed and original (or even collector's editions if possible, as with the Fire Emblem Thracia 776 Deluxe Box). So really I do it on a case-by-case basis.

Add me if you like!

Ask me about 3DS Friend Code if interested. All other things are in the profile!

I like Offical products only (no 3rd party hardware).

I avoid greatest hits and platinum versions.

Items must be in box with all manuals etc.

I focus on one brand so I can organise everything more and put things in there correct order.

My collection must be neat and presentable, I hate messy collections with wires and cables running all over the place. Link below if you wanna check it out and I also run a small Youtube channel about Playstation collecting just for a little fun.
