Forums - Politics - Is being Gay an evolution of humans?

@Seece

Where did I use religion or even scripture to justify my position? Can you find a single post to quote?

Is it possible to condemn homosexuality from a non-political, non-religious vantage point? Yes it is. All human beings are born with an instinct to procreate hence why a majority of us are attracted to women. This is purpose of design. Any other sexual behavior (including bestiality and pedophilia) is pure deviance and is offensive from this fundamental, biological stand point.

Still if everyone was to ''evolve to be gay'' the number of humans on the planet 100 years from now would be drastically lower, if that logic was to apply to us your could apply it to any other species and would see it doesn't hold logically.

How do you think dinosaurs became extinct?

asteroid, drastic climate change, they surely didn't all turn gay

And you know this, how?

Short answer: no.

Homosexuality as a human behavior has existed for as long as Homo Sapiens have existed as a species.

There's a long list of civilizations and societies throughout history that thought little of it. The general tendency to point out how homosexuality was taboo or the subject of persecution is only present among societies that frown upon the behavior due to their societal/religious backgrounds. It's a very egocentric view to think that all societies have traditionally shared the same religious beliefs and norms of what is deemed acceptable sexual behavior.

So no; homosexuality in modern society is not some sort of recent development activated within the human genome as a means of population control. If such a mechanism were to exist, sterility or the ability to shut off reproductive capabilities would be a far more elegant and effective solution.

Plus it's a fairly common for homosexual individuals to have children which essentially negates the entire concept that homosexuality is an advancement of the human species by way of population control during a time in which resources are being taxed relative to a rising global population.

Birds are dinosaurs and they still exist so are you implying that birds are pure heteros?

So no; being homosexual doesn't make you more evolved, advanced or special in any sort of way from the misguided notion that you are helping to solve global population by having sex without the intent to procreate.

Plenty of heterosexual people do this. In fact, most educated heterosexual people do. It's called birth control. It doesn't make them highly evolved either.

Same logic could be applied to serial killers (psychopaths), diseases, drought and famine, storms and harsh weather conditions. They could all be control mechanisms for the population

But there have always been diseases, drought, famine, storms, Noahs flood, and God to kill people. Being gay has just broken free of thousands of years of bonds recently. Apes to humans, Caterpillar to Butterfly, People locked in a body that they are not happy in to being openly and happily gay.

Homosexuality has followed mankind since the dawn of time. Also other animal species.

It's actually pretty common among other animal species, even other primates.

Gay people were always present, look at ancient Rome were they had orgies with only males, it went out of style for a while because of religions and other factors, by that I mean people would hide their sexual attraction to the same gender, now it's back because it's not as frown upon like it used to be.

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicxulub_crater

The impact would have caused some of the largest megatsunamis in Earth's history. A cloud of super-heated dust, ash and steam would have spread from the crater as the impactor burrowed underground in less than a second.[24] Excavated material along with pieces of the impactor, ejected out of the atmosphere by the blast, would have been heated to incandescence upon re-entry, broiling the Earth's surface and possibly igniting wildfires; meanwhile, colossal shock waves would have triggered global earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.[25] The emission of dust and particles could have covered the entire surface of the Earth for several years, possibly a decade, creating a harsh environment for living things. The shock production of carbon dioxide caused by the destruction of carbonate rocks would have led to a sudden greenhouse effect.[26] Over a longer period, sunlight would have been blocked from reaching the surface of the earth by the dust particles in the atmosphere, cooling the surface dramatically. Photosynthesis by plants would also have been interrupted, affecting the entire food chain.[27][28] A model of the event developed by Lomax et al. (2001) suggests that net primary productivity (NPP) rates may have increased to higher than pre-impact levels over the long term because of the high carbon dioxide concentrations.[29] A long-term effect of the impact was the creation of the sedimentary basin which "ultimately produced favorable conditions for human settlement in a region where surface water is scarce

this only means the end is near :P

Of course it's always been present. It still doesn't justify open practice. There is nothing to imply that we should accept same-sex marriage or public display of affection of the same.
