Forums - Sony - JAK 4 not happening anytime soon, Not atleast by Naughty Dog

The Last of Us creators, Naughty Dog, recently held an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit, where several people asked Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley about the future of Jak & Daxter. In reply to a quest about Jak 4, Neil said:

"No plans. We gave it a shot at the beginning of the project and couldn't make it work for ourselves."

Another user asked again later, to which Neil replied:

"We tried and failed. :( Maybe in the future we'll try again."

 

So it looks like Naughty Dog were working on bringing the platformer back at one point, but couldn't get further than the concept. On the upside, we got The Last of Us instead, which is one of the best, if not THE best, new IPs this generation.

So this news means Uncharted 4 is in the work.. Neil's team will be at helm of new IP... although i want Neil team to handle UC4.. Coz UC2 and TLoU kicked ass

Sony should let Sanzaru handle this. Sly 4 was my favorite in the franchise and I want a damn next gen Jak! Also Uncharted 3 was my favorite in the series so I don't care which team makes what.

Hell no not them. They're good devs but we need a big name developer to make this game so that it sells. Sly 4 BOMBED so hard even when it was only 40$ at launch.

This is why I was hoping Ratchet and Clank: Into the Nexus was a Jak and Ratchet crossover for the PS4. It would bring another platformer to the PS4, another exclusive, Ratchet, and finally Jak's return. I knew ND is done with Jak.

I still would like to see a R&C and J&D crossover!

Sony is mostly to blame though with the lack of advertisements and sly wasn't really a huge ip. Although I'd give Sanzaru credit they made sly 4 cause they were really fans of the series.

Good for them, honestly, I feel bad for allot of companies that get bogged down making games they aren't comfortable with anymore, just because of fan service... It really hinders the creativity and abilities of the developer.

Example: See Bungies and Microsofts relationship.

i'm yet in the first quarter of Sly 4.. but i can tell it will easily rival the first 3 from sucker punch for me! and maybe even be my personal favorite in the series!
