Forums - Sales - Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies Sells 250K in first week

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies has broken franchise records and has placed atop Japanese sales charts after its first week of release, selling nearly 8,000 more copies in its first week than the previous Ace Attorney best, Apollo Justice, did.

The 250K mark is certainly a welcome sign for the franchise, which is trying to break the million copies mark for the first time in its history.

While the series' future in Japan is certainly secured after an opening week success, the main question now is how it well sell in the West. Dual Destinies is scheduled for a Fall release, and its sales there could determine whether future Ace Attorney titles are localized or not.

Anyone know what the cost was? I'm anxious to get the game when it comes to the US, and I'm curious to know about what to expect.

Too bad the 3DS version won't have a physical version in the US.

Saleswise its a dumb move.

Luckly I've gone 100% digitial with my 3DS.

Yeah, but Capcom and most major Japanese publishers have been cowards in choosing which games to publish outside of Japan in recent years. Sadly I will still give them my money and wind up buying a new SD card because I REALLY want Ace Attorney 5.

Ridiculous, really.

OT: Very welcome for the series. It's nice to see that certain franchises blossom on the 3DS. Especially for Japan.

Who knows, maybe this'll be the one to hit 1 Million?

They believe that it will cost them more money to make physical copies than to just release it digital because they think the game is niche enough in the USA that the difference in sales wont cover the costs of making the physical copies.  Honestly, if I had to choose between digital or physical, I would go physical for this game.  Only problem is that I don't think I'll be getting the game until after I have played the previous entries.  I didn't even know about the game until about two years ago.

edit: I mean, I didn't even know about the franchise as a whole.  I have seen multiple gifs and pictures of the game, but never knew what I was looking at.

Yeah I got a class 10, 32 GB SD card for $30 from Best Buy.  Never worried about memory again. :3
