Forums - Gaming - Now that both the Wii U and Vita have been taken off shelves at Wamart, are they both just as equally doomed?

Wasn't that vita thread mostly bs?

My speculation for the Vita is that maybe Sony's releasing a newer Vita in time for the PS4, almost like a relaunch.

As for the Wii U.....

I didn't realise that it was discontinued in Walmart! And no, the Vita is more "doomed", as it were, in the West anyway. Japan could be different, but not in the West I don't think.

Having said that, the remainder of this fiscal year is crucial to the Wii U success. It needs to gain a foothold against the other systems.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Will the Vita get its second wind?

I am starting to think that a price cut would help, but that gamepad is kind of in the way. I wish that they could just sell the Wii U without it.

But the main thing is to still get the games out. With their new found profit they need to court some 3rd parties. Not that they will ever do that, but 3rd parties need incentives to give the Wii U a chance.

Well in Canada the Wii U basic will be going for $199 so that's a start as I know a few friends that will now be picking one up.

Definitely new 3rd party games is key;  not like CoD Ghost but I guess it'd have to be more exclusive as if it was multiplat then gamers & devs alike would just focus on the PS4/Xbone.  Heck, just release a Pokemon MMO or real console RPG and be done with.

ASDA is still selling Wii U's online. They've only removed them from physical stores. Though they will still ship to store for pick up.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

The thread title is misleading. Wii U and Vita are both still on shelves at Walmart, and most ASDA stores didn't carry Wii U in the first place. Title should be changed.

Also, ASDA is absolutely nowhere near the size or prelevance of Walmart. They aren't close to comparable.

I was at a wal-mart this past weekend and the store shelves were packed with WiiU's and Vita's and their games. The store only had one 3DS and a few DS versions, seemed odd considereing most times they have 40+ units. This was in Ontario.

Agreed, after reading more, I'd go as far as to say that it's almost flamebait mistleading.  Needs to be changed ASAP.
