ZenfoldorVGI said: Good time to buy. It's unfortunate that anti-Wii fanboys across the internet, with little or no knowledge of finance, would try to use this information against the Wii, as if their gaming arm is directly affected by day to day stock prices. |
The Wii's gaming arm!?! I think you need to ask yourself who is lacking in knowledge here.
Nintendo is a games company, it doesn't have any other arms. And obviously they are affected by fluctuations of the stock market. Of course, they are not alone, as the US recession will affect everyone. If you meant that it will have little real world affect on gamers then you would be right, but it will certainly impact Nintendo as a company.
Presumably, Microsoft's gaming division will be the most heavily affected as they are US-centric.
The Market is driven by fear and greed... right now some big investors much be switching over from Greed to Fear and getting out of equities(stock) and moving over to bonds(falling interest rates raises value of old bonds) therefore causing Nintendo's stock to fall. This is a market wide shift, when Nintendo releases thier fiscal in March and people realize they have actually done BETTER their stock will skyrocket. Definitly buy before the Next NDP come out, or news of Brawls smashing success is made public by Nintendo themselves.
End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)
Wii- 72 million 3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases
360- 37 million Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak
PS3- 29 million Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

its not that small, its one of the biggest Japanese companies, and a market leader |
I'm not sure if the adjustments are necessary but whether Nintendo is one of the biggest Japanese companies depends on you what you count... In terms of their stock market value Nintendo is really big because of their share price at this time..., same with profit... On the other hand their turnover isn't that high and the number of employees is VERY low...
what a dubious thread title.
Below 4000 worldwide. Amazing. They know how to handle rescourses.
> Entertainment is always a necessity,
hmmm, how is Entertainment a 'necessity'? When someone loses his/her job, entertainment cost is first to go, you think they'd still buy their kid that 50 bucks game per week/month if they are living on unemployment insurance?
Expect stocks to drop further, nobody is foolish enough to buy stocks in huge numbers when the market is clearly going into recession
Soriku (Feb 10/08): In 5 years the PS3/360 will be dead.
