Why is it that Nintendo can but other publishers get bashed for doing it. I don't care who the publisher is. Any single HD rerelease more than $30 is too high, more than $40 is a ripoff. Nintendo, like Capcom with Resident Evil Revelations is being greedy, and hopefully the game bombs atleast until the price drops $20 or more. Tells Nintendo to stop screwing their customers over with high prices, something that seems to be a Nintendo trademark. $50 for an HD remake is more of a ripoff than SMT4 at $50. Both of them are bs prices screwing their fanbase. One is actually an original game though. |
like i said nintendo can do that, they are releasing games that lots of people havent played since its over a long time period of original release, i will not defend DK how ever, that was a way to make some quick cash and promote tropical freeze on WiiU
People will buy look at pokemon firered/leafgreen and heartgold/soulsilver.... BOth over 10MILLION Sales! LoZ for 3DS sold for $40 and sold over 3mil, WW HD is the only game im skipping for this year, but if i never play GCN version i would of boughten this game from a sale $35-$50! I do understand how you feel, EX i think its smart for FFX to be on Vita/PS3. Great game, putting 2 into 1, and its been over 10 years so people in the 13-20 year old range might buy since they played only FFXI-FFXIII! But to each their own lol

Its not simply an HD rerelease is why. How original can the 4th game in a series be? You do know you dont have to be their consumer if it makes you get that mad over paying for quality games.. 50 for a game is a better deal than 60.
Not everyone just slaps on a new coat of paint and calls their remake done.
Honesly though if you hate them that much over it just never support them again. Problem solved.
well i loved the original, if theres enough content added ill definitely pick this up day one. amazon says the HD version adds a harder mode, cant wait to see how thats like.. also added miiverse stuff :D

Better lighting or not put the cost of a single HD rerelease to double what every other publisher would release it as. Most HD ports include two games, so $25 per game if you're curious about the double cost comment. But yeah, there are your shitty ports like Silent Hill HD Collection or Jax and Daxter Vita, but then there are good ones like Devil May Cry HD or all the other Sony HD ports.
Square Enix is putting additional effort into their HD collection with better textures at some points(not just higher resolution,) better lighting, and including the international versions for both releases, so putting more work into the western releases through localization. If you look at all the comparison pictures, it's quite obvious that this is no simple HD conversion. What do you know, the collection still costs $40. Glad Square Enix isn't pulling a Nintendo, otherwise we'd be paying $99.99 for this collection.
As for SMT4 being original, I meant it being a brand new game over being an HD rerelease. It's also overpriced, but it's not a port. Persona 4 the Golden was also a port, with a lot of extra content and a massive graphics overhaul in comparison to the original. This one isn't $50 and there's a hell of a lot more detail put into this game. The point is though, no matter how much developers worked on it, it's not a new game. If Persona 4 the Golden was priced at $50 I'd have been bashing it as well.

The miiverse thing is a replacement for what they had in the original or so I've read. Tingle bottle (Miiverse tool) replaces the Tingle Tuner (something to do with the GBA to play as Tingle o.O). I wonder what the hard mode does, more damage taken from enemies or does it affect their AI or numbers :O? |
my best guess it is like a wind waker master's quest
I agree with the person who said "Nintendo can do that." It's just the facts...they've had some VERY good success with the games that they've decided to re-release or upgrade in the past. Super Mario 64 sold over 10 million on N64...and then sold ANOTHER 10 million on DS. Ocarina of Time 3D which was a beautiful upgrade job has done over 3 million on 3DS. Donkey Kong Country Returns sold 6 million on Wii and is well on its way to a million on 3DS already. You can't fault them for making money where it can be made. There's just something about Nintendo's games...they have that extra level of polish and quality (not saying some 3rd parties can't match it, they can and have...but Nintendo has been doing it longer and more consistently than any other company or studio) that makes them seem worth whatever the price is. Plus...3rd parties don't really care about holding the value of their titles....they release them and get as many sales as they can at full price and then steadily lower the price...until you can find almost EVERY 3rd party release at $20 or less eventually. If you'll notice...Nintendo RARELY drops the price of their games...and yet they keep on selling. Sometimes I agree it's arrogant of Nintendo to NOT drop the price in order to increase sales, but I think it pays off for them in the long run because it makes their games seem more "valuable," and so again, they can get away with re-releasing older games at the same/similar price of a new game. 3rd parties would be hard pressed to do such a thing with their HD remakes because all the other games from them wind up dropping down to $20 so fast. Just my take, don't hate. :p
Upcoming Games To Get
Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)
Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)

Persona 4 The Golden was priced at $40. That's full price for handheld games -- yes, even Vita games. Some Vita games are $50, just like SMT IV is $50. That's a premium price.
Even if you argue that $50 is "full price" for a Vita game, and $40 is somewhat of a budget price... well, $60 is full price for an HD console game, and Wind Waker is $50...

Only Vita game I remember that was priced at $50 was Uncharted but it quickly dropped to $25 (plus it was available at pre-order at that price from some outlets). Just my 2 cents, dont rage at me plox. |
Why would I rage at you? You're only helping to prove my point -- that Persona 4: The Golden was a full-priced remake.

Just to make sure, you realize that this isn't simply and HD re-release but Ninteno is overhauling the graphics of WW by adding new shaders, lighting, and textures right?
