Most likely legs. It looks like the best of the bunch. Also, the 1st one on NDS sold 133k, which is similar. I expect this to be due to the userbase size, and that the one after this one will lead to more Bowser's Inside Story sales.

"It looks like the best of the bunch" doesn't really = legs, but I see what you're saying.  I expect it to continue selling for a while too and the figures to be absolutely fine in the end.

That said, the initial shipment for this game is way too high, as multiple people have pointed out.  It's looking somewhere near the 400k range, which is insanely high for a game with < 100k FW.  My understanding of protocol in Japanese stores is limited, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that most games tend to have low first shipments as retailers don't want to order too much stock since they can't return it to the publisher once it's purchased.

Seems weird that so many copies of the game are out there.

I doubt it will do much better than Vahalla Knights 3 and Tales of Hearts.  R. So.. around 80k after acouple of weeks. 40-50k first week.

Then again you never know... the audience for persona is on the Vita, so maybe it will be a sleeper hit.

I think that's probably optimistic.  No anime; no advertising and new IP on Vita will probably fall in line with other, similar releases.  Something like Monster Monpiece or Demon Gaze (i.e. 20-25k FW).

Anyone know digital sales?

wii u dropped worst than i thought

Pretty good week for the Nintendo systems. Solid hold for Wii U of about 75%.

We need a thread asking 3DS gamers only, if they buy digital or retail games. Then maybe we could guesstimate digital sales.

I bet at least 30-50 thousand bought it digitally. Just so easy to do.

Probably not.  Ubisoft has given some numbers about what % of games sell digitally and the number tends to hover around 5-10% depending on the console for their games.  I believe the 3DS was about 5%.  Of course, Ubi's game are more of a Western thing and not first party so it may be different for Nintendo games in Japan, but 50% seems pretty unlikely.  I'll actually be picking up Mario and Luigi digitally, but mainly because I have eShop credit from the Shin Megami/Fire Emblem promotion.

I consider the Pikmin franchise dead right now.
Pikmin 3 will end up with less than 200K in the Japanese region, well below the 475K units of P2 and very disappointing for a game that had several years in development. Hardly, Nintendo will invest in Pikmin 4 in the near future - unseless P3 has excellent sales in Western markets, I believe that Nintendo may invest in the franchise, which I doubt, given the small sales of P1 and P2 in the West.

Nintendo's self fulfilled prophecy if that's the case.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Fullfilled Prophecies

Steady sales for vita. I'm glad with it, Toukiden appears to be a the type of games the vita needs and hopefully GE2 can do more than that !
WiiU maintaining too, I don't want to see it sub 10k again, but I'm not aware of any upcoming title these two months so It will.

So the Wii U did stay ahead of the Vita. Not surprising. That Pikmin 3 second week is... average. But it'll do, I guess.

M&L 4 did pretty bad to alright. Better than SuperStar Saga, but worse than both of the DS entries. Hopefully it'll have great legs. (Afterall, Paper Mario: SS didn't have the best opening, but is still tracking ahead of TTYD and SPM.)
