To the Moon has a great story, and i loved it, but to be honest it is not much of a game in the usual sense.

Spot on.  Someone else mentioned this.  It is the only reason idk if i will actually review it.  It is more of an interactive book than an actual game.  Not sure if we should change the name of these type of things from games to something else.  Not sure.

I agree that the story is really good. However, I wouldn't put it on par with TLoU simply because of the flawless deliverance of TLoU

I'm glad you're one of those that liked MGS4's story

I see your a breaking bad fan. Starts just over 2 weeks. Aug 11th. I'm so stoked.

To the OP

I really liked Alan Wake. I loved the story, I though it was great.

^Don't overhype it! >_<
People shouldn't go in with amazing expectations. That will just ruin it.

The Greatest Indie Game of all time isn't really a remarkable achievement since there is no competition.

Still a masterful game though.

There is plenty of competition! Some of my favorite games last year were indie (Hotline Miami, TWD (not quite sure if this classifies)) and then there is always Minecraft, Braid, Bastion, Limbo, Journey etc. etc.

Agreed.  To the Moon has a fantastic story but some of my favorite games this gen is indie/arcade including  Trials Evolution, BattleBlock Theater, Castle Crashers,  Minecraft, Bastion, and Fat Princess.

Yeah, I forgot Trials even though I bought it recently!

I also forgot some more really fun and fresh indies like: Super Meat Boy, Shatter, Orcs Must Die 1+2, Torchlight 1+2 (this is indie, right?), Trine 1+2, World of Goo, Amnesia: Dark Descent, Superbrothers, Killing Floor. Seriously, there are a LOT of indie games out there. Dismissing them all as bad or whatever, to me, isn't justified.

Where's the Cave Story love?

In terms of Story, I think 999 wins out. Never has the branching paths mechanic has been used so well. Damn.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

This is something that resonated a lot with me, when it comes to story:

Will I need to play 999 before Virtue's Last Reward?

Mentioned this in the OP so not sure what your point is.  This is only about the stories.

What do you have against frog fractions?
