sigh.

Why? Its a cool feature and it doesnt distract from this being a gamepad only game.

Its the little subtle things and little convienences that can really set the X1 apart and make it an improvement over current gen.

Don't act like a grumpy senior whenever change comes along :P

But what conveniences? Not having to select a profile from a list? Picking your character manually?
If profiles didn't exist, then I would say 'holy shit that's awesome', but unfortunately they already do...and in fact some games aren't even programmed for profiles. Then what? Does the kinect come with internal software that transcends the game programming? Does it save your profile for upload on the go? Can it recognize me at home, and then when I go to a tournament the new console will know me? No. You'll still have to set up your control.

It's like, MS has all this potential ability, and doesn't even know what they're doing with it. You know what's cool? The cloud knowing my profile for a specific fighting game anywhere I go. That's cool. That's "never been done". But what do they think is "innovative"? automatically selected profiles. wowzers. It's like I'm really in the minority report, guise

Change starts somewhere. And I see this as nice if you frequently go over a friends house. I won't recognize you the first time, but it will the next time, and thats cool.

Just seems like Nintendo and MS are trying to do new things. PS4 just seems more of the same, and playing it dead safe. For some reason, gamers are terrified of change, but thats another matter.

But it's not really new though and that's the problem. Profiles already exist in many tournament games. Hell I think xbl guest accounts already do this. The only difference that kinect is bringing is that I don't have to pick my profile from a list, which only takes a fraction of a second as it is. Like I said, if it were something stored over the cloud, then absolutely, that would be a major change, for any xb1 console to know exactly who is using it, but it's not.

The difference here is akin to using the dpad on the wiimote vs using the pointer to spell out a word. Both are roughly equal inputs in terms of selecting from a menu.

I'm not going to get into that last line.

The one word responses in this thread are ridiculous.

4 Sony fans that hove no interest in the ONE or kinect basically trolling for a laugh.

I simply wouldn't get away with that in reverse.

On the contrary, I'm bringing important facts to the discussion. I'm here to analyze company performance, and how valuable their services are. Currently, this feature does not do anything new that impacts gameplay, and in fact, is only a different method of selecting a pre-programmed profile.

Right now, it is MS' job to try and sell the kinect. Why should I be faulted when I point out flaws in their logic? If you started eating only organic and said you buy kashi, I would say you shouldn't trust the organic label. Kashi is owned by Kelloggs and the rules for having the organic symbol aren't as stringest as you think they may be.

Similarly, MS is trying to say this is new, and never been done before, but are clearly spinning something that has been done before. If a new sensor came out and figured out who you were based on their heartbeat, and said "it will pick your profile based on your heartbeat. This has never been done before", I would say, "no, it has been done before. This is just another way to do what was already accessible very easily previously".

Except this is but one little feature. Kinect is full of little features and convienenes. Id say when you add them all up you have something that truly sets it apart.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

I don't think I read this correctly. Kinect enables you to save button configurations on your controller? How? Are they saved in the Cloud?

Cool idea, saving button configs on your Wiimote in Super Smash Bros. Brawl was about the only reason to use them at all XD

you said

sigh

that was it.

only when you were challenged did you elaborate.

every kinect thread is like this. its killed asap by people with fuck all interest in it, like you.

Ah, but you agree with me now? I'm sure someone in your position knows how frustrating it is to see the same old day after day. For me, it's reading clear lies from the ms marketing room. Day after day. "Oh, we weren't intentionally trying to make an extra dime off of indies, it was a plan....yes, a grand strategy all along......that somehow didn't actually help the indies who had already begun development and had to jump the hurdles, and then complained to the internet about it...all a very clever plan"

"Yes, and sharing too. Sharing was going to be this amazing thing where you could share with anyone anywhere. No we won't release the details on it. No we won't allow you to use it on digital titles anyway despite the fact that it's virtually the same as before. No. This was amazing, and you won't ever know what it was"

"kinect is incredibly integral to the one. Why? Because it's awesome! Don't pay attention to how much of a loss we are taking on it. It's all for gaming! Check out how you can say grenade instead of pressing a button on a d-pad! There's really no other reason for kinect than to facilitate gaming. You'll see. I know we made the same promise 4 years ago, but we'll do it this to for real. Swearsies. Look, we'll even get all our third party exclusive devs to say "better on kinect". That's how you'll know that kinect is worth the extra price all along."

@Prof, HipHopGodd, & Nem

Those posts just don't cut it, and really opens up this thread to be derailed (which... Surprise! It already is!). I doubt you're trying to be overly malicious, but those type of posts fall under the "no content" rule and serve no purpose in these types of discussions. For Prof, at least you went on to actually explain your point of view, but only after being challenged to do so. Make sure that you start off with that type of post initially instead of a post which serves no purpose other to derail. Thanks.

Let's get this thread back on track and within forum guidelines for posting.

Those booing this are so joyless. You really can't see the intangible coolness of the console just recognizing you and setting things up how you like it just by seeing you.

Just ... go away, please. You add nothing constructive to any topic about Kinect. Nothing will change that. All you do is repeatedly try to ruin things for those of us that think this stuff is cool. Just avoid these threads and things will be better for all. Please.

regardless what I post first, i will get the same responses. That is the nature of this site. Naturally, I do understand that my one word answer broke rules. I will be more attentive to following them and pointing out ones that are broken as well. /prof out.

Those are actually some pretty cool features to have for a fighter. Nothing mindblowing but nevertheless nice to have, especially if you host tournaments.
