That is really great news...

I had a uncle with that "difference" and I think he should love this feature if he was alive yet... he likes to watch we play games when we was kids.

Anyway... it is not only recognize sign language... MS needs to change make the interface to give more hints and message at screen to these people... makes easy.

The ideia is great.

Is it true that there is only 1 universal sign language and you can communicate with everyone on the world who knows sign language. Or is that just a myth? If true, presto universal translator! Convert language A to sign language, convert back to language B...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sign_language

A common misconception is that all sign languages are the same worldwide or that sign language is international. However each country has its own, native sign language, though they may share similarities to signs used in another country.
Hundreds of sign languages are in use around the world and are at the cores of local deaf cultures.

Check, a myth as expected

Still wonder why the BBC had news broadcasts with someone signing at the side, why not use subtitles.

Although adding radioactive zombies to the news does make it more interesting. (A hoax btw)

I didn't know you could write subtitles in real time...

They should advertise this once they get going

..or you could google around a little and discover that many systems like these have existed for years. All use standard webcams (a 3D camera is not required for this to work).

Yeah, and we already have perfectly servicable cars for getting around... no point in trying to improve on them.  Just stick with what we have... they work fine,

There is no need to try and improve, or make things better.  Innovation? Improvement?  Who needs it?

Henry Ford's quote comes to mind

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

About all tv has closed captioning nowadays, also the live shows. Although they are slightly behind and have spelling errors. Court reporters do allright, typing in real time is not hard. Maybe a lost art, but 10 finger type writing used to be an every day skill.

Awesome if your deaf!

indeed it does.

I actually have two Henry Ford quotes in mind. But then  you would start to whine and  report me so I leave it at that.

But if you think that replacing a $10 webcam with a $300 Kinect2 gadget (always online, of course) is improvement, then be it so....

But if don't understand what you're saying kills you with a laser shot.
