Considering Japanese's style of life, being purchased by a western corporation doesn't seem like a great idea for them.

What has Mistwalker done recently though? Aside from the Last Story on Wii? Would it even be worth it for MS to buy them out? I never got the obesession with buying devs.

Why not pay them to make a game exclusively, if it sells well, then they'd be more inclined to make another. Obviously a contract would be made so if the game was successful they'd want the IP, but why incur the financial risks of paying for a whole studio when you could just get games from them, while they work on it without being tied down.

Just my two cents.

Right? Mistwalker was as close as we got to a first party Japan studio. Well actually Team Ninja was extremely pro Xbox when Itagaki was working there, they even had that Hayabusa armor in Halo 3 and that spartan in DoA4. MS needs to get some studios in there, was pretty disappointed when Osaka turned out to be fake. A lot of Japanese studios would hate being a part of Xbox though, just because its an american comp.
