Does anyone know how I change the type of class in Mass Effect? I want to be an Adept but every time I try to make a new account it always defaults me to the soldier class and I can't figure out how to change that. Do I get to change it later on in the game or something?

Are you choosing the Quick-Start Shepard? You may have to make a custom Shepard to be able to pick your class. I'm not 100% on that since I never used the Quick-Start option before.

XB1 averages 35k a week in states, and WiiU 12.5k, going by January NPD. Europe is probably equal between the two, and Japan adds 8k weekly to WiiU. So the gap is probably around 15k weekly, not 8k. I wouldn't worry about XB1 being low though. When it releases in all countries and is $400 it'll have a much better baseline.
