There is definitely no reason they can't announce Japanese launch date soon. I know they wanna get a good line up ready but they can't wait forever for that. 1 or 2 nice exclusives along with Titanfall should be sufficient.


Japan has no love for fps, I know there is mechs mixed in for good measure but I really doubt that would be enough to win over Japan. Gonna either need some massive exclusive Jrpg like last revenent or Blue dragon... or else some mighty extra content for KH3, Japan loves their Disney.


It won the Future Award at TGS and the people that played it there loved it.

Titanfall actually seems to be somewhat anticipated in Japan, last I checked preorders for the 360 version on Amazon Japan had it ranked #70 on the bestsellers list, ahead of recently released games like Drakengard 3. 

Right now I can think of 4 currently announced or released Xbox One exclusives/Microsoft exclusives that should do fairly well in Japan, Dead Rising 3, Crimson Dragon, D4, and Titanfall. Microsoft just needs to supplement those with a few more moderately popular games + at least one major exclusive (such as a Lost Odyssey sequel/spiritual successor or a new Star Ocean) and the Xbox One could have a decent release in Japan I think.

The fact that Kinect 2.0 can still track people as close as 3feet from the unit too compared to how far you needed to be from the original Kinect should really effect its usability in Japan too where living area's are notoriously smaller than in the west. Not sure how the Japanese gamers are feeling towards the PS4 as well after they got to see their home system launch everywhere in the world Except for Japan, could be some scorn towards that when it launches, would be a nice boost to the X1.

That's also another possibility that I considered. Microsoft's Japan representative did recently say that Microsoft would be announcing their Japan launch plans in the near future, so it makes sense that they'd announce an exclusive alongside the launch plans. Though if that is the case, I'm hoping for a Lost Odyssey spiritual successor or a new Mistwalker JRPG instead of Blue Dragon, Blue Dragon wasn't really my style.


I'll be honest, was a massive fan of the Digimon 4kids cartoon so the whole voice cast being in Blue dragon really won me over. Eternal Sonata actually had a bunch of the Digimon voice cast too if I recall.

I was a Digimon fan when I was a kid as well. Had no idea that they voiced the characters in Blue Dragon. I might have to give Blue Dragon a try now.

Aye I'm pretty sure it was the main character is voiced by the same person who voiced Izzy in the Foxkids dub, the kid who had the Laptop and the flying bug Tentomon, the angsty girl from Tamers voice actor is in there too along with a whole bunch of misc digimon.

They announced Banjo Kart Racing and Viva Pinata on the same day in March one year. So hopefully it's something big ish!

I really really hope so! I have a feeling though that if MS uses any of Rare's IPs then they will be for kinect games :'(

Rare is definitely working on something, but whatever it is, I get the feeling that Microsoft will save it for E3.

The only three first party studios i could see making an announcement is Lift London, Black Tusk Studios, or Twisted Pixel.  Maybe Press Play but that is doubtful.  

I could see a japanese release date being likely

Nah, Rare has already said controller + Kinect moving forward xD
