Well, I think it comes down to if you actually like the world of Gears or not. It was a great experience in the first game and was completely freash. At the time, it came out co-op and third person shooters were not as common, so the original was a great experience. The other games are fun too, but I am not a fan of the world and characters. Uncharted changes a lot in setting for each game and TLOUS changes setting a great deal and is different in that it has more stealth involved in it. As whole package I have to give Naughty Dog games a huge advantage.

How in the world is it fair to compare a franchise against two franchises? It's Gears vs. Uncharted or Gears vs. TLoU and not Gears vs. Uncharted and TLoU^^

I mean, if you like Gears or Uncharted more is up to you but why did you mention how TLoU "changes settings a great deal"? It's another franchise, it's obviously not like Uncharted^^ That's like saying NBA2k loses because Madden is so different to Fifa which are both from EA Sports.

If it comes to third-person shooting mechanics Gears is definitely the best. It's perfection as long as I don't see it better.

I still like a few other franchises more (Halo as example)

I love how dramatic the cover is. Scaled back to just Chief and Locke (aka dead man walking), all dark, nothing significant or remotely distracting between them....very simple, very powerful.
