Yeah, 4 was definitely better than 3 imo. 3 was just ok imo, 4 was great. Hopefully Gat out of Hell will be good and hopefully Volition will release 5 within 2 years, preferably with a new graphics engine designed for next-gen instead of the tired old engine they've been using since like SR2 I think. 4 hinted at time travel in 5, so I hope they go through with that. I also hope they find away to keep the superpowers from 4, super speed, wallrunning, and gliding made getting around the world so much easier than using vehicles.

Don't get mad but I hope they bring V back to the original state of the storyline with the gangs. All this super power stuff and aliens doesn't feel like Saints Row anymore.

You're definitely not the only one who feels that way, there are plenty of fans of SR1 and 2 who want Volition to go back to the old style. However I doubt that they will, Volition got tired of living in Rockstar's shadow so they decided to stop trying to compete with GTA and instead carved out a new niche for the series making humorous games filled with puns and pop culture references. They pretty much have that niche to themselves, only Borderlands is similarly humorous, while there is alot more competition when it comes to serious open world action-adventure games; GTA, Red Dead, Just Cause, Batman Arkham, etc. The fact that Gat out of Hell seems just as silly and off the wall as SR3 and SR4 suggests that Volition doesn't plan to return to making serious Saints Row games.

I would have thought a dev team would listen out to the majority especially if it would help game sales. That's prob why a lot of people I came across that has played SR hasn't played anything after the 2nd one. But if they think this Alien thing is working for them than it is what it is.

But as I mentioned, going from taking down gang territories to having powers like jumping over buildings and what not just doesn't scream Saints Row for me. By the way wasnt SR IV suppose to be like DLC for SR 3? I remember mentions of DLC for SR3 that was cancelled so I assumed that's when they expanded that to IV.

Saints Row 3 actually outsold Saints Row 2, that's probably part of the reason why they decided to continue making the humorous games instead of going back to the serious style of the first 2 games. Saints Row 4 sales were down compared to both 2 and 3, but I think that was more because of poor release timing than people not liking the humourous take on the series, they released it in August which isn't typically the best time to release games (parents dealing with back to school costs for their kids, teenagers busy with homework once school starts, etc.), and they released it a month before GTA V which killed it's legs. Plus I think that Volition just prefers making humorous games, their other series, Red Faction, is pretty humorous as well if I recall correctly. They tried the serious thing with SR 1 and 2 and they just weren't happy with people comparing it unfavorably with GTA I guess, so they decided to take the series in a different direction. Maybe one day they'll do another serious SR game, maybe the should have 2 seperate Saints Row series going forward, one serious for the fans of SR1 and SR2 like yourself, and the other humorous for the fans of SR3 and SR4 like me and slade.

Yeah, I think that SR4 was originally an idea they had for a SR3 DLC, but they decided to expand upon it and make it a full game.

I'm actually surprised SR3 sold more than SR2. SR3 was an ok game but it was more of a sellout story. One of the things I hated most of all from SR was the heli missions. Was that in SR IV or did they take that off?  I'd be pretty happy if they did since it was a PITA. I haven't played any of the Red Faction games.

I think the Helicopter missions were only in SR3, and I agree they were pretty crappy, my least favorite of all the side missions in SR. SR4 has some pretty good side missions imo, I especially like the insurance fraud missions but the tank missions and professor genki missions are good as well.

I only played the beta for Red Faction: Guerilla (which was pretty good). I do remember that there was a special gun you could get that was a Unicorn who farts rainbows.  Volition has always had a penchant for the silly it seems xD

So the SR IV side missions is pretty much the same as SR 3.

A Unicorn farting rainbows lol. I remember a game simliar to that. Accept it was weapons and not rainbows. A DLC from Borderlands 2.

Well, Xbox One's price is steadily increasing now on Amazon as more and more Amazon Verified 3rd party sellers sell out of the AC bundle, XB1 is up to $380 right now and still at #4 while PS4 is ironically down to #11 from #8 earlier today. Could Xbox One somehow still have the advantage over PS4 even at $400? Highly unlikely, but maybe Xbox One sales aren't going to tank quite as badly as I was expecting.

At first the roommate was going to buy the X1 from Amazon but I mentioned the Target deal but it was too late on the gift card since they only gave them to an x ammount of sales instead of like days for it.

The sales will tank. Its inevitable and if it doesnt happen this month then it will happen next month when the big games start coming out. On the bright side, its better for the X1 to do terribly since that will hopefully convince MS to always keep the price lower than the ps4. And maybe they will actually use their brain and drop the price worldwide instead of  just focusing on two countries.

Hopefully it keeps selling well enough to stop dropping price

Got my first rampage in the Halo 5 beta, awsome match. Recorded part:

I just learned what my problem is, I run around too much.

Yeah, best thing to do in Halo is getting the power position on the map, staying there and let the enemy team come to you. Halo 5 is really punishing when you go in alone ( even more than regular Halo imo). The upper ramp on Eden is a great spot, sightlines across the whole map, lots of cover, two ranged weapon spawns in the proximity, only two easy entrances and you can just jump down if you need to get away quick.

4 was better than 3, you say? I like SR3 but it plays like crap on my laptop for some unknown reason. Hopefully SR4, which I got as a gift in the Steam Sale (thanks Leadified!) will be better, because I love the series.

On that note, anyone know of any similar titles to SR and Just Cause? If you say GTA I will shoot you because I have them already.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.
