Yupp, I decided to come back on my 2nd anniversary of being on VGC since people wanted me too. I just needed a short break, if I was planning to leave for good I would tell you guys! This is actually the only gaming site I go to! lol and this is by far the most posts I've ever done on a forum, my previous record was like 1,500 and it took me like 5 years to amass that!

It was nice to see that people actually missed me xD I mean I actually feel like I'm apart of this community, whereas on other forums I always kind of felt like I was on the outside looking in. But anyways because my account is officially 2 years old I think it'll be a nice way to give a little insight on how I even joined VGC.

Think of this as an Iceland origins story

in 2007 I joined the Gamepro forums, I was always a big fan of the magazine when I was growing up so I figured it'll be an obvious choice. I was an extremely different person back then, my top 20 favorite games list would be entirely comprised of JRPGs, many from the FF franchise. My favorite console was the PS2 and PSP at the time. I even made a few JRPG AMVs, my myspace profile was decked out with Final Fantasy pics. Anyways, I became a casual gamer for a while, I'd just play my PS2/PSP on the weekends.

In 2009 when I ran into an old friend of mine he got me back into gaming, Xbox 360 was the console everyone had at the time, reluctantly I picked an Xbox 360 over the PS3 due to my friends being there and Halo (which I played tons of at my friends house). I went back to the gamepro forums in 2010 under a new name and I got to know people better, the community was actually pretty cool! 

In 2011, I even got Member of the month (which I believe is in an actual magazine), also I won my first giveaway there, things seemed pretty good but literally the next day after I won... I couldn't log in, in fact no one could. After a few hours it was known that gamepro would be closing down... Just my luck

They tried to migrate us to some PC site but it just wasn't the same, the mods were strict and 90% of talk was about PCs and I was a console dude. I decided to go to the Sega forums (I already had an account there) and N4G. The Sega forums were pretty cool only problem is that Sega of today isn't doing shit! Also there's a lot of "extreme" Sonic fans, and that's where all the discussion was, in the Sonic sections. Also N4G people hated me, I always got thumbed down and bubbled down for posting even the slightest positive xbox comment, I even got plenty of hate mail from people there.

It was around this time (mid 2012) I started lurking on the VGC forums more. I started to get bored of the Sega forums and N4G was full of biased idiots. I made a parody boxart of Halo 4 and I needed a place to post it, I knew there was Halo fans here from my lurking days so I decided to make an account. There was some approval process I think, I couldn't post instantly. When I was able to log in I found out I needed 50 posts to make a thread so I just started posting. Eventually I got enough to make this thread

I didn't post that much but once I saw the Xbox Empire form and take off I was there xD I eventually became a "regular". Thanks to Ryuu I stopped going to other sites for news altogether so this basically became my only site for gaming in general. And although my post count is still relatively low compared to most people, I can't believe I'm nearly at 5,000 posts! It's been a great forum experience xD

Also I'm just going to throw in why my username is "iceland" when I'm from the USA although I believe I explained this one before (not in detail though). There was a time where I was heavily into youtube, I was in a skype call and this dude freaked out and threatened to dox me, being kind of new to this whole dox'n craze I panic'd a little and changed my location to Iceland. I assume the dude never did a dox on me but I never changed my location back, eventually my friends would poke fun about my location, one time a friend got mad at me and said "shut up iceland" and thus my nickname was born.

And tbh I probably wouldn't have picked that if I knew I was going to stay here, especially if I known there was actual people from Iceland that posted here, and a popular one at that! It was kind of funny to be accused of being an alt though. xD
