Do I want the flood to return? No, or only in a small portion... Only in Halo 3 when you fight with MC/Arbiter/flood together I enjoyed.

Small portions would be fine by me. Personally what gets me so excited about the flood would be what they would look like now. Flood always gave a more ominous feeling and changed the gameplay considerably, but now they would truly look scary if done right.

Flood in Halo is a brilliant addition. You go from one area where you duck and wait for the right moment to strike, to speed running and blazing to the next point.
It keeps the game interesting and avoids lethargy.
