Forums - Gaming - Why are game developers so stupid

I haven't played the game, so this is just an opinion, but I think these portrayals actually sound good. Some women are crazy and violent, and I would imagine when the worlds in ruin that their standard of life would go worse then for men.

Also Ellie seems about right. With no parental figure, why would she be respectful of adults? I also would imagine that she is wise beyond her years because she grew up post pandemic, and has had to live a hard life.

----

I'm really excited to play this game because in reality, if something like this happened, people would not act like you expect them to, and these described personalities sound accurate and interesting.

Also why would Ellie believe in a God when her whole world has been shit? Do you think starving etheopians believe in a god? What about the families of slave labour workers who worked for Loblaws? The workers begged to have the building fixed and wanted to work somewhere else for years, but they were forced to work under a crumbling building and were eventually killed it finally collapsed.

---

Don't quote me, I'm really excited for the game, and I already know too much. I won't respond.

Atheism and nihilism are two separate things dude.

The rest of your post is pretty poorly thought out but it seems like the other posters have already addressed it for the most part.

So I'm playing Last of Us and enjoying it for the most part. The graphics are great. The game play is smooth and interesting. The music is nothing special, but sets the atmosphere well. My beef is with the limited understanding of reality by the game developers. The young girl in the gamee, Ellie is obscene, and disrespectful of her elders. And for somee reason, with next to no experience in life she is somehow endowed with a deeper understanding of life than Joel, the adult. An adult female at the beginning of the game is extremely violent which is such an unrealistic portrayal of women. Do the game developers think that they are being 'progressive' by living in a delusion. What do you think? Also, the game developers leave it up to Ellie, the young girl  to decide whether there is a heaven or not. And of course she selfconfidentally says she doesn't think so. So according to the game deveelopers there is no point to life. Life is crap, we live and die, and that's it. This is the shallowest, unthoughtful point of view that I can imagine. There is no rational reason to believe this point of view. And there is no reason given to support this nihilism. So are game developers good at graphics and stupid at life. What do you think?

A qoute from a greek tragedy aphrodite: "if i am young and right, how does my age matter". First of all ellie is not portrayed to be more mature then joel, 2nd of all how does it matter if she was age doesn't have a lot to do with understanding. People have the right to believe what they want, not beliving in heaven doesn't mean their is no point in life.

Just because this portrayel of life doesn't argue with your beliefs doesn't mean the devs are stupid. You are blind for thinking so.

Ummm but this is 100% correct and 100% a proven fact of life. How do you dispute this? Unless you yourself are living in a delusional fairytale state? I gave up reading at this point.

Like I said, I don't want to hear his opinion. And i'm sure he doesn't want to hear mine

At least you see it from both sides. Not many people do that...

This is a joke, right?  Well, I'll take it like you're serious.

Let's break down the stupid, my friend!

We're gone to look at your reasons for why they have no understanding of reality(funny, that sounds like someone in this thread, someone who perhaps made this thread?)

1 - "Ellie is disrespectful to elders":   Yeah, those kind of kids exist, they exist in quite a large amount.  Most kids don't respect their elders that much. So, your first point is bunk.

2 - "Ellie has more knowledge and understanding then Joel": She was raised in the apocalypse, allowing her to soak in more of it and adapt, as humans are creatures who adapt to our world.  A human born in a warn torn world will have better knowledge and understanding then an older person who was flung into this world.

3 - "A female is violent": Women, despite your sheltered mindset are as capable of being as violent and as cruel as men.  Women have raped, murdered, tortured and destroyed.  To think a character being violent and crude is not realistic, because they're female, is quite sexist.

4 - "Living in a delusion makes them progressive":  Do you think someone who doesn't know much about real life should be criticizing how realistic this game is?

5 - "Ellie decides on her own there's no Heaven or Hell":    One: People have and do come to this conclusion in real life, this isn't that absurd.  They're called aetheists.   Two:  By giving her this character trait, they're showing that in this nightmarish land, she doesn't have much belief in things like Heaven or Hell, because she's grown up in a cold, painful world.  Three: Just because you give a character an opinion or belief, this is not a reflection of the people who made the character.

6 - "What do you think?": I think this better be a joke, because I really feel sorry for you.

7/10 good effort OP, a lot are buying it.

Is this a joke? If so, good job. You really had me for a moment there.

If you're serious, then I'll give you a better answer, but just quickly, from personal experience growing up in an poisonous environment, she is very much realistic.

You're making no sense to me dude.

But well... whatever.

While it's not Tess, there is a psychopath in the game, and you'll meet that person soon enough.

Also, as far as swearing, let's also work on taking the N-word out of Mark Twain's Tom Sawyer. What a joke this thread is.

Maybe we should start calling the OP "Jon Snow"
