'with next to no experience in life she is somehow endowed with a deeper understanding of life than Joel"

she has lived her entire live after the plague, he didnt, he lived a normal life then he lived through the plague. ellie grew up in the plague, it formed it, it didnt form joel. of course they will have very different views of life, and of course ellie would understand it better. since, its all her life, joel, for as many experiences that he goes through, will never fully understand it, because he knew how life was, to her, the plague is life

I haven't played the game to comment on it, but I agree that many games have quite ridiculous and unrealistic stories.

I don't like hearing kids cuss myself. I think they do it to get cool points for putting it in the game. Like how it was cool to put cuss words in albums and if your album had that label on it, it was cool. If I was living in their world, in this game, I would slap any little kid that cussed. Game of Thrones style. There's no more laws anyways. Every time I heard her cuss, which was almost every 5 minutes, it made me cringe. That was my only main gripe about this game. Everything else I loved. If any of my nieces or nephews saw me playing this game and that little bitch kept cussing, they would do it too. They would think it's ok.

Kids cursing is still a reality even if you don't like it. I mean, I hear kids cursing all the time here. It doesn't irritate me personally, but I can understand why you'd feel that way.

Give me a slap kid in the face button and I'll be happy.

I'm not going to enligten you because you can't argue with ignorance. Case closed.

He's not the only ignorant one, in this case.

Like I said, I don't want to hear his opinion. And i'm sure he doesn't want to hear mine

If i hadn't seen this thread with my own eyes i wouldn't have believed that someone could be so delusional and narrow minded in their own little distorted world, but alas, here it is. This abomination of thread that i dare say doesn't contain the slighest amount of logic or thought behind it unfortunately exists (and the responses are even worse). I could elaborate but seeing the responses that OP has been giving, it's incredibly useless to discuss anything with OP.

I hope, for the sake of my faith in mankind, that this is a joke thread. I do, with all my heart.

WOW, just WOW...

My first ever post!

OK you need to step back and do the math.

20 years of zombies....Ellie is how old?

That's right. All she knows is pain and violence and how to survive. She wasn't caught in the apocalypse... Joel was. She was born into it.

Of anything they were geniuses to realize that and mold her character to reflect that.

So I'm playing Last of Us and enjoying it for the most part. The graphics are great. The game play is smooth and interesting. The music is nothing special, but sets the atmosphere well. My beef is with the limited understanding of reality by the game developers. The young girl in the gamee, Ellie is obscene, and disrespectful of her elders. And for somee reason, with next to no experience in life she is somehow endowed with a deeper understanding of life than Joel, the adult. An adult female at the beginning of the game is extremely violent which is such an unrealistic portrayal of women. Do the game developers think that they are being 'progressive' by living in a delusion. What do you think? Also, the game developers leave it up to Ellie, the young girl  to decide whether there is a heaven or not. And of course she selfconfidentally says she doesn't think so. So according to the game deveelopers there is no point to life. Life is crap, we live and die, and that's it. This is the shallowest, unthoughtful point of view that I can imagine. There is no rational reason to believe this point of view. And there is no reason given to support this nihilism. So are game developers good at graphics and stupid at life. What do you think?

First, while I haven't played that game, I agree and have seen it in other things.  I think it is a coming experience in entertainment, and seems persuasive.

Did you watch 'Super 8.'   It's supposed to be kids, but the talk and act like University Graduate students, not at all like children.  I remember one section in last Transformer's movie where people were over acting so much I thought it was either a dream or the director must really live in a world where a waiter getting his meal wrong is the most horrible thing he could imagine.  It was just unrealistic and odd.

There are many stories that have been forgotten.  Even the great classics have weak points, many of these will be forgotten.  You are just seeing the ‘culling’ going on before your eyes.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Thanks for putting it in this format Jay520(?). Much easier to reply to.

1: I've been around girls younger than 10 who behave much worse than she does in better situations than she is in (not good situations but definitely better than an apocalypse type situation. And then a large number of people her age are definitely obscene. That's nothing unreasonable.

2: I honestly don't know much about this, haven't finished the game so no argument.

3: Fungus people are unrealistic portrayals of people (in our minds). In a world with zombies many people would be very violent. Women can be very violent now a days anyway. It's not always scratching and hair-pulling like in the movies.

4 & 5: I'm pretty sure half of Vg chartz believes this or something similar. While I don't, I know that believing in God is illogical, and that it is about faith. If you don't have faith (in something), then you believe you live and you die (generalized description.)  Also, I don't want to turn this into a topic about religion but if you are Christian, then look at 1 Corinthians 1:18. I feel like it kind of goes along with this.

Its like questioning Bruce Wayne on why he became Batman. :/

I hope you're not serious. Posts like this make me want to give up.
