Good. The comment quality on all the (nearly) unmoderated websites is horrible. People can bitch about unjustified bans here all they want, the relatively high quality of discussions on gamrconnect is a direct effect of our strict moderation guidelines. Only the sophisticated trolls survive :P

Very true.  I would say that things would be worst on here if it had a bigger vocal community though.  The people who knows how to get away with things do.  The rules on this site can easily be worked around.  Even i am guilty of this.   Example being the word biased which basically means fanboy.  We can say one but not the other.

Biased is a much more sophisticated word than fanboy, though. Thus it doesn't lower the linguistic level of the conversation quite as much.

lol no we just create intelligent (Stealth) trolls at VGC. :P "Go out there and be somebody!"

I got into trouble for flaming on this site. Now is flaming an extreme form of trolling? or just insults?

Wouldn't be able to tell you to be honest.  The rulebook doesn't matter.  Rules get created as they go along here in vague terms based on different situations or how you read into the text.   Baiting is probably the most vague term of them all though and is vastly viewed different by many members and mods.

I wonder if they consider frank and upfront discussions about MSFT's revenue/profits to be "trolling" ?

They said they are fine with debates and intelligent discussion.  They are just trying to remove the useless comments.  Probably comments such as "Shitbox", "Nintendo is for kids", etc

Oh.

Now IGN will be no fun...

Who's going to moderate the moderators? Sounds like a recipe for an agenda driven forum to me. Democracy dictates that we suffer the bad in order to verify the legitimacy of the good.  Swearing, yes, personal attacks, yes, but not polar arguments that lead to heated discussion.

lol sports debates are pretty bad.  Though in real life they are usually friendly banter, online they are horrible.
