Forums - Gaming Discussion - My one issue with the "exclusives" argument

I have two PCs and both of them suck. I also have every single console on market with no exceptions. I'm just saying.

The xbox 360 is a magical console, you can play most of it exclusives without owning one

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

The reason it "doesn't count" is if Jim has a good PC.

For someone like myself who has a rather beastly PC: Choosing a 360 is rather foolish compared to the exclusives found on the PS3.

Not only is the 360/PC games available for me on the PC but they are also better due to the hardware being newer as well as them at.. times.. being.. free (Pirates.. derp)

Walking around here in Scandanavia and you'll see barely anyone calling a 360/PC game for exclusive due to the fact that so many of us are PC oriented.

So really, thats an admission that PS can't stand up by itself against Xbox?

Because in a strict PS vs Xbox debate, neglecting these types of games seems silly. Bringing in a PC to fight PS battles.....thats what these types of replies sound like.

" Bringing in a PC to fight PS battles"
The PC should not be ignored. Getting a PC from several years back still stands above the current consoles. It is not rocket science that a PC offers more in terms of both better hardware, more mods and other community aspects like that as well as the fact that you can actually get rather much from piracy. Even with all of this gone and you treating the PC as a console => It doesn't lessen the fact that I can enjoy most of the games you play on the 360: WITHOUT owning one.

SO why should I even consider a 360? Well.. for the titles that I already cannot enjoy. That would be Halo, Gears and Forza (if you allow me to generalize).

Or perhaps it would be the PS3 where you'd see games like The Last of Us, Uncharted and yada yada yada (I don't need to list them all).

I downloaded Skyrim on my PC.

It simply is the superior version and most importantly: I didn't need the PS3 nor a 360 to play it. (Nor did I need to even pay for it) [Yeah sue me XD]

You seem to focus on some "war" here whereas I am taking my own consumer view into account. What do I benefit from putting my investment on? A PS3 or a 360 when I already have a capable PC? The choice is rather obvious.

THANK YOU. I thought I was the only one lol.

In short: PS3 has multiplats not on 360 like MLB, FF14, and a few others. But Xbox multiplats not on PS3 are vastly numerically superior. It is one of MS's #1 strategies this gen.

Sony fans praise the almighty exclusive not just because they are what they are, but in short doing so cripples Xbox's main strategy: to secure games NOT on playstation.

Gears of War, Left 4 Dead 1/2, Dead Rising, Witcher 2, Minecraft, etc etc etc........not on PS3. Doesn't count, it aint exclusive. Upcoming X1 games that are shared with Windows 8, XBLA games shared with tablets.......sorry, not exclusive. It doesn't exist.

This is a Sony world unfortunately, something Ive been trying to fight for a while, and sadly it comes to the point where we just live in their world and play by their rules. It sickens me to no end.

If its on one and not the other, it counts, both ways. In a true Xbox vs PS debate, these titles deserve a mention. Any filtering of these games is propaganda, nothing more, in its lowest form.

Add them then, It still doesnt fix the facts that Minecraft has become your idea of xbox exclusivity. That's what happens when you stop making games on a console and move on to the next.

Minecraft, among others like it = Multiplats, not on PS.

A Xbox gamer would however, treat it like an actual exclusive

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Buying a 360 for Dead Rising and The Witcher 2? There are far more interesting games on the 360 Jim! XDD

It's not about "being special", its about "do I need that console to play a certain game"

I own Alan Wake. I do not own a 360. Hmm how is that possible if its an exclusive?

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

No. You can't play PS3 games on PC... you need the PS3 for most of games.

You can think in this way: 360 + PC vs PS3 + PC what give you more games? Remember EVERYBODY HAVE A PC.

More like 360 > PS3. True since it does have more 70-79, 80-89, and 90+ metacritic games, by significant margins I might add

So essentially it becomes 360 < PS3 + PC.Try to keep it Xbox vs PS......most can't.

Everybody has a PC, but doesn;t make us PC gamers, at least from a core perspective. Just look at the sales of the 360 versions of certain titles.

I'm a PS3 user and played Minecraft... what kind of magic I did?

So you're saying Jim died in vain?  I know dozens and dozens of people that game on consoles.  Every girl I've dated in the past few months has had a Wii and some crazy fitness game.  I probably know two people that game on a PC and I've never seen someone actually do it in person.  Yeah, there are a lot of PC gamers in the world but the pale in comparsion to the actual console gamer that will spend money on the newest iteration of Grand Theft Auto.  Don't belive me?  Wait for the sales figure on the next big multi-plat title.  Even if the PC version is highly superior, console sales will eat it alive.
