Forums - Gaming Discussion - My one issue with the "exclusives" argument

One more post before I leave this whole thingy alone:

The Wii U.

The Wii U might not get any games from EA Sports, this year. Lets say we were doing a comparison between Xbox 360 and Wii U. In 12 months, the Wii U got games like NSMBU, Game and Wario, Nintendo Land, Pikmin 3, Super Mario 3D World, etc. That is a TON of exclusives compared to the Xbox which only has Gears of War Judgement and Fable Anniversary.

Let us say that some guy makes a comparison of exclusives. By HIS rules, only games from the Wii U's launch date until now are allowed to count. A game Like Madden wouldn't count for the Xbox 360 because it's a multi-plat. Just comparing exclusives, the Xbox only has like two games "that count" while the Wii U would have like a dozen! Again, it would be a situation where the Wii U has more exclusives so the Wii U wins, right? No. The Wii U would be missing so many key multi-platform titles that the Xbox 360 would be the obvious better choice!

Some people in this thread would argue "Well, everybody I know has a PS3 already" or "Most of those games are on PC so he should already be able to play those games". NO! NO! NO! *slaps you* You can't just say what somebody SHOULD have! The only thing that we know for sure is that one console is being compared to another. The comparison is between Wii U vs. Xbox 360 over which console has the games you want to play. The PS3 and PC are not factors. It's option A vs option B.

And that's how I think a PS3 vs. 360 comparison should be done. One device in comparison to One device. And that's it. I'm out!

While he is waiting for online to boot up, why not play some Last of Us, or another PS3 exclusive.

PS3 makes you watch the updates.  I tried to leave the room while my PS3 updated once.  It locked me in the room with it and made me have a seat.

*I don't have PS+, btw*

Educated consumers know that the Wii U is weak when it comes to third party. People use that argument for Sony and Microsoft because their consoles are so similar- they share 80 percent of the same games- the only thing differentiating them is the games they don't share. I think most people know that you can't use that argument for the Wii U because it doesn't have  games period. If it had the multiplats the Ps3 and 360 were getting- then an argument could be made.

THANK YOU. I thought I was the only one lol.

In short: PS3 has multiplats not on 360 like MLB, FF14, and a few others. But Xbox multiplats not on PS3 are vastly numerically superior. It is one of MS's #1 strategies this gen.

Sony fans praise the almighty exclusive not just because they are what they are, but in short doing so cripples Xbox's main strategy: to secure games NOT on playstation.

Gears of War, Left 4 Dead 1/2, Dead Rising, Witcher 2, Minecraft, etc etc etc........not on PS3. Doesn't count, it aint exclusive. Upcoming X1 games that are shared with Windows 8, XBLA games shared with tablets.......sorry, not exclusive. It doesn't exist.

This is a Sony world unfortunately, something Ive been trying to fight for a while, and sadly it comes to the point where we just live in their world and play by their rules. It sickens me to no end.

If its on one and not the other, it counts, both ways. In a true Xbox vs PS debate, these titles deserve a mention. Any filtering of these games is propaganda, nothing more.

@Bolded The same can be said about the fact that when Sony consoles sells the most, it's the most successful console for the gen. When it's not, it's about the console with "the most games" or "the best experiences."

I completely agree.
Also people say you can play the game the game on PC, but I'm not a PC gamer and only game sometimes on PC and that is to play old N64 games! So if its a console exclusive than its counted as an exclusive for me.

LOL nice try.

Instead he says:  No you should get it on steam for $5 right now.  Any PC made recently can run it and it will look just as good if not better.

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

u can spin it any way u want the ps3 still has a more diverse and longer list of exclusives then the 360 AND its not stopping anytime soon. Both have a great list of games and it comes to taste but at the end of the day the 360 isnt getting any more exclusives.

Fable Anniversary would like to say hello.  Also even if that where true there are still tons of XBLA exclusives that will be released before the 360 stops being produced.

fable anniversary lol...

Why?

Okami HD for PS3 counts. SOTC for PS3 counts. So does Halo CEA. They are remade or tweaked for the current gen.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Minecraft, among others like it = Multiplats, not on PS.

A Xbox gamer would however, treat it like an actual exclusive

Choosing to play minecraft on anything but PC/Mac/Linux is a complete joke.  It has so many more features on PC it is pathetic.  It would be like if BF3 on console only had half the maps, no DLC, and 12 Player online with no air vehicles.
