Oh, I 100% agree that price isn't the only factor. Games and features matter, as well. But price does become a significant factor, more than it would have before, once the gap is larger than $50.

Also, I don't see where I went overboard with the quote trees. One of them I did go over 3 posts (what I think is the acceptable length), but I figured that since 007BondAgent's post was so short, it wasn't that big of a deal.

A cheaper console is selling more? O_o
My god!
Thats the only reason why ps4 will outsell it.
Xbox one will get a price cut sooner than ps4 to increase sales.

Yay for the ps4!

This was obviously going to happen, the reason the 360 did so well in north America was it's price

Yeah the price will be a pretty serious factor in the sales for both consoles, that much I fully agree with. I just disagreed with 07Bond that price is really the only factor.

As for the quote trees, for a while I really tried to keep people to adhere to the 3 posts plus your own rule but now I've come to the conclusion that it is an impossible task...and I really don't want to ban people for something like that. So now I'm only speaking up when someone goes over when they quote me or I see an especially big quote tree.

now that was funny. LOL

no, not really but hurt. Things are going to close and it's going to drive both our cost down. We should all be happy.

It would be funny if MS did a $200 pricecut just because they could and probably still end up profitable.

now can we finally stop with all these pre-order threads?

These kind of threads are really the purpose of the site. There's going to be dozens more once the consoles come out and we actually talk about sales.

i dont mind sales talk, but every day we get a thread "PS4 pre-orders sell out in this store" and it would be one SKU sometimes. then, somebody posts a xbox 1 sell out thread in another store to counter that PS4 thread, and vise vera. why not make one thread that gathers all the data properly so that we can really benifit from it and see the bigger picture than making 3 threads a day?

This is a bit inaccurate.

The Xbox One and PS4 launch/day one editions have sold out on Amazon multiple times, because they would get a higher allotment and re-open them. At least that is what happened with the Xbox One day one edition.

Up until today, the Xbox One Day 1 Edition was vastly outpacing the PS4, and was at the top 1-5 spots for several weeks. It appears to have dropped sharply after they sold out this last time.

Xbox One's have been "sold out" at Gamestop stores for ages now. Only online orders have been available. While the PS4 just recently sold out of stores/online. I do not know why the Xbox One would still be available online and the PS4 wouldn't. Perhaps MS still haven't given firm allotment numbers/production estimates.

Don't lie.  On Amazon US, the PS4 was at #2 a week after E3 ended while Xbox One was sitting at #8.  After the 180, the Xbox one made its way to #6 within the past couple weeks and has stayed there since.  The PS4 later got overtaken by Xbox Live cards and moved to #3.

Or you might not be lying, you might be mistaken.  You're probably thinking of t he Amazon best sellers which changes every hour, and yeah, the Xbox One was at first at one t ime.  So was the PS4 day one edition, etc.  The problem with that one is it is only on an hourly basis.  When something doesn't sell on there it drops and then it continues dropping which is why after the PS4 day one edition was sold out it eventually movved off the first page.

This list right here has an actual number to each item and each items ranking does not change until one number surpasses the other.  Cumulative sales in 2013.  PS4 is at #3 right now and Xbox One is at #6, but they might actually be lower by the time the two consoles launch, with Microsoft cards and PS+ cards that are in the ranks below them possibly overtaking either one.
