dude... bro... Why you hating? Actually, why is it an insult? I use the dude then bro remark when trying to make fun of frat boys but I just do that for fun. Kind of like when I do Indian English accent as fun. It really isn't hating. It is just making fun of the way some people talk or sound. I am not worried about it really. I just picture the guys that use it as something bad as people who hate anyone who is sociable, atractive and or popular. I mean one of the urban dictionaries descriptions of a dude bro describes me exactly in college: listens to rock music, wears UFC gear and watches it, works out, drinks energy drinks all the time, and gets drunk as fuck.
