If Nintendo ever do add them, I hope to God they have the option to turn them off.

I definitely agree with this,  if they are included you should have the option of turning them off.  In certain games I do not want stupid messages popping up all the time telling me I've successfully completed some arbitrary task that happens to be a byproduct of how I was playing the game, for me it breaks the immersion.

yes. People who don't like the can ignore them and give those who enjoy them - nintendo give us the option

So you want options, but say people who don't want them should be forced to put up with them?

"Put up with them"?

Is it so horrible for you to see an achievement/trophy unlocked?

All my friends don't like trophies, but no one gets annoyed when they unlock one. Just ignore them.

They could add an option to disable them. I believe the PS3 has that option now.

The way I see it is that it would only make the 3ds (already a near perfect system in many ways) even better.

As for the Wii U ... what do they have to lose really? ... can only generate more sales.

And for anyone that says they are annoying/pointless/e-penis/yadayadyad I'm a troll blah blah, then just turn the damn things off and it's like they are not there. They are fun for some people so why does it matter to you whether or not they are there? As I have said before, I don't know why anyone with good taste would bother with JRPG's, but I would never say "don't put JRPGs on my system they are lame" or something to that effect.

It's distracting and patronising.

If trophies and achievements actually rewarded me with things, like for every 1 bronze I get money off PSN store or something then they'd be worth while.
The problem is they don't reward you with anything actually real, if the trophies were tied to the gameplay so if you did it you unlock a gun or something then that might be worth it too but they don't. Well from my experience they don't anyway.

Hmm, pie.

They can do like Sony, you can turn them off in the preferences, no trophy warnings during gameplay if you dislike them. Althought, I love the sound of a trophy appearing in the morning, smells like victory.

I really do like them =D

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Good idea, each tropy could give like 1 cent (bronze), 2 cents (silver) and 3 cents (gold), 5 cents for the platinum. That would be interesting.

Yeah, it's not much but if you buy 2 £30 games which have trophies, 1 of them you bought the DLC as well from the store. Getting 25pence off your next purchase from the store isn't too much is it? It's too late now obviously, some people have thousands of bronze, image the amount of games you could get. :P

Issue might come from if you borrow or rent a game, not like you bought it to begin with yet are claiming free money.

Hmm, pie.

I voted "No, they are stupid =/".

Because, being a bit blunt, they are stupid and pointless. Just the other day I was starting with God of War: Ascension, I almost immediately got this trophy "Prison Break", meaning I 'broke free' from my chains in a QTE sequence at the very start of the game! No shit, what's the point? It's not like I can 'miss' it or anything. Later I got a similar one for beating the boss, again something you have to do. The most pointless one I ever got however, was in one of the Guitar Hero games. Got one, for playing... a song. Such epic achievements indeed. I also don't see how it supposedly adds replay value. Being a good game, that adds to replay value.

I'm glad Nintendo doesn't ride the trophy hype train and if they do, please let me be able to turn them off.

They have trophies :P
