My feeling is much closer to I don't care. I'm not greatly interested myself but I don't mind if others want them.

I agree with this.   I find achievements lame and more annoying than anything.

In game achievements are better if done like Smash and Kid Icarus. A system wide achievements system is pointless. Just because it's on other consoles doesn't mean it's mandatory. Unless they do anything meaningful, it's pointless.

i hate to win a achievment for dying or playing bad...
there are games that dont need achievments at all.
and some games realy need.
nintendo is using it in some games, only games which make sense.
mario 3d land: u can see how many start the people u find have. Start says exactly what u have achieved in the game.

I love trophies personally.
They add replay value, they make me do things in-game i usually wouldn't, and they add value to the game.
I'd rather spend 60 bucks on a game that I will play multiple times to master
