Forums - Gaming - Jimiquisition tackles the myth that a console needs to launch with a gazillion games and the idea of X having no gaemz!

Do you agree that a console needs to launch with over 20 games to be relevant?

Yes, 20 or more 0 0%

About 20 should cover it 0 0%

10 to 15 is enough for a launch 1 25.00%

about 5 quality triple A ... 3 75.00%

1 game to rule them all. 0 0%

No matter how many games ... 0 0%

Total:4

I've always been an advocate of the Vita (and by extension the WiiU) having more games than they are given credit for and the idea that the consumer needs to claim some of the responsibilities of the problems on their platform of choice.

I've always argued that consumers demand A but then consistantly go for B each and every time.  And because console makers are stupid, they listen to A each and every time.

Seems I'm not the only one who thinks this (to an extent) Jim Sterling does another one of his analysis of the state of play in his latest video entitled "Launch Splooge"

Vindication!

Thank God for him indeed.

I am a bit confused by your op. The Vita launched some time ago, but you are talking about the Vita and launch games in the same op ?

In regard to launch games and shortly after a new device needs to have some unique compelling games at launch and a steady feed of new ones in the first two years.

The Vita does have a lot of games now, but is a bit light in the AAA ones still..

The video explains everything.

Seems pretty obvious, but I don't really agree that consumers are to blame. Who cares about how many games a console has, really? Fanb... er, "enthusiasts" who engage in list wars on forums, I suppose, but that's it. A majority of consumers demand appealing games and a consistent schedule of releases, and while those people might not visit forums to compare list pen0rz, they speak with their wallets. Which is what really matters, and that's who companies should be listening to.

Each of these companies has been in the business for over a decade. They should know how this very basic shit works by now.
