Beauty (282 votes) - They're losing interest in being good looking too.

Well, if they are also losing interest in dining out, what's the purpose in beautifying yourself?

Wouldn't surprise me. Most console games nowadays are shooters - these games don't particularly appeal to the japanese taste for games

I hate polls. 2,144 is nowhere near accurate. You could get them all to say they like going to the movies and that's it. To me polls with low numbers like this are simply a waste of time and resources.

No, the number is perfectly fine. The problem would be the bias in the way they collected the data.

This is actually a huge deal since Japan makes some of the best home console games and if their people ar elosing interest then they might stop, but tbh these might just be people that are growing up, the poll does not include people that are just getting into home consoles.

I myself prefer handheld games, I've never been a graphics whore, so the fact portables are weaker don't hurt on me, and portables are also cheaper, and practical, I can easily take them away from home, and play on the car or something like that.

We needed a poll to tell us that?

Japan lost interest in home consoles a while ago.

Meh, 2000 people on a mobile phone based poll. It's probably true that Japan is losing interest in home consoles, but I don't think this poll is proof of that.

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

The PS2 sold 23 million consoles in Japan, which is equal to the amount of Wii and PS3 consoles sold COMBINED. The DS and PSP combined sales in Japan equal well over 50 million.

The problem is that Japanese devs couldn't adapt to the HD generation. Konami, Capcom, Sega, Namco weren't irrelevant but took a back seat to western devs this generation, and in the next generation, they are practically done. Konami has Metal Gear Solid and that's it. Capcom couldn't even get Dead Rising 3 going til Microsoft helped them.

It's sad to see. Japanese games have the heart and soul you don't see in many western games. Hopefully they finally adapt this next generation, but as I said, they are barely on the radar. Square Enix looks to be making a little comeback with Final Fantasy 15 and Kingdom Hearts 3, but who knows when they will be out and if that is all S.E. has (for Japanese).

Where's the option for handheld games?

How do Japanese games have heart but not western games?
