There are many people waiting here for the Playstation 3 and that have had many time to put apart money ....sales will be good even with the high price tag .Besides ,it remains to be seen if only the 60 Gb console will be released here .
I'm from Germany. And if you read my posting carefully you would've noticed that I converted the currency to Dollars already. I did that for better comparison. If you don't believe me go to www.amazon.co.uk or .de and figure it out for yourself. Movies on BD simply ARE that expensive in the UK and in Germany. I'm happy to hear that there are many people eager to buy a PS3 in Spain. But I just think that won't be enough for Sony to reach their own target of selling 6 Million PS3s worldwide until the end of march. Just look at Japan. 1 Million consoles shipped but only about 550k sold. And the PS3 is much cheaper there.

Japan has been a Nintendo country for a long time, and the PS3s that were shipped were in the "pipeline", meaning that they were just shipped. (And Sony probably added a couple hundred thousand to say that the ones that were in factories were "in the pipeline") And there's only one game that's 9/10+ out now, and there won't be another one for another month or so... Blu-Ray Discs in the U.S. were cheaper than HD-DVDs, but I think they averaged out in late 2006. Anyways, I think that Sony should cut a hundred or so dollars off the PS3 in Europe, because it costs a lot more money than in the U.S.

I may be off by a bit... but here: http://www.korexz.com/2006/11/28/here-wii-go/ and here: http://www.korexz.com/2006/12/22/here-wii-go-update/

"Japan has been a Nintendo country for a long time," HA HA HA. PS1 and PS2 destroyed the Nintendo products of the same gen. Wii is stomping them in Japan because it is more fun and a whole hell of a lot cheaper. When the PS3 actually puts out a good game, then Japan's sells will increase. But, by then Wii will be by far the dominant console. Just like the DS is king of the world. End of March 2007 360 = 9.6m, They will ship 12m, based on new revised plan. PS3 = 3.4m, They will ship 5m, 1m less than predicted. Wii = 6.2m, They will ship 6.5, 500,000 more than they predicted.

Yeah I found AmishGramish's statement laughable as well. The PS1 and especially the PS2 obliterated the N64 and Gamecube in Japan. My numbers for the end of March are similar to yours. 360: 10 million sold, 12 million shipped. PS3: 3 million sold, 4.5 million shipped Wii: 6.5 million sold, 7 million shipped

NOT A NINTENDO COUNTRY!?!?!?!?!?!? NINTENDO HAS FREAKING POSTAGE STAMPS BECAUSE IT'S SO FREAKING POPULAR THERE!!!!! Nintendo basically revitalized the gaming industry, which really helped out Japan, because they were/are still in a recession. Okay, in Japan, the DS is beating the shit out of the PSP because they really, really like Nintendo there. 14M DSs? The U.S. and Europe, both with a lot more people, only have 10M each. 4:7:7 is the PSP ratio for Japan, U.S. and Europe. Now, the PSP is doing better in the U.S. and Europe than it is in Japan because generally, the games made for the PSP are made for U.S./Euro. people. LocoRoco is a type of game that is designed for Japanese people. The DS doesn't really have many great games in the U.S. or Europe (IGN gave about twice as many PSP games 8+ reviews as DS games, but there are a lot more great DS games in Japan than there are in the other territories). www.next-gen.biz (and IGN) said that the PSP has a lot of great games, but it just doesn't sell as well as the DS. I think the main reason is because of the price. $70, and you don't get Mario, but you do get a lot of AAA titles from developers that don't make Mario games. A lot of people I've talked to, and a bunch that have DSs, said that they would have bought a PSP (or a PSP instead of a DS) if it were cheaper, so they basically got stuck with the DS. This is kind of what's happening with the PS3, but it's in the PSP's spot when it launched. The PSP and PS3 both had some great games at launch, and the DS and Wii had a lot of great games at launch. As the years wear on, the PSP was getting more and more great games, while the DS was getting a little sluggish. This will probably happen with the Wii, unless if developers come up with new things, and a lot of them, to do with every game they make for it. The DS is selling strong because of the name Nintendo, just like what will happen with the PS3 when it either drops the price or gets a lot more great games (March for the U.S., Europe, and Japan, not surprisingly, as developers are holding the games until there's a lot more news about the PS3). If Nintendo made the PSP and Sony made the DS, the DS would probably sell at 1 for every 1.5 PSPs. One very big reason why a lot of people bought DSs and PS2s is because their predecessors both dominated the markets prior. Now, with the PS3, a lot of people are going to (and already have) bought the PS3 because it's made by Sony. But those very same people who support the Xbox 360 or Wii have to be very close minded to criticize it for that fact, as there are a lot of people that buy the 360 or Wii because they are made by Microsoft and Nintendo, respectively. What you people need to do is examine how the market has worked, and how it's been changing over the past years. Now there are people that will say "Look how fun the Wii is!" Those same people said "Look how fun the DS is!" I was one of those people. One of my brothers was one of those people. We were absolutely addicted to Feel the Magic XY:XX, and that's it. He is selling his DS because he is "Mad at Nintendo because there are no games for the DS" He said the same thing about Sony this summer, but after his wife got addicted to Me and My Katamari, and he has a couple hours a week that his wife stops playing it to play MGS: Portable Ops, he is really happy he got his PSP. Things change, people change, if Nintendo AND third-party developers keep making quality games for the Wii, and make them even faster, then the Wii will win. But, if it ends up only or mainly being Nintendo (which is how it's like with the DS, FFIII was basically the only AAA DS game that wasn't made by Nintendo is 06), then the Wii will fail, and do what most of the analysts say it will, sell a lot for the first three years, and then sell barely anything after that. That is a very small chance that that will happen, because even the DS hasn't had a Super Mario Kart or WarioWare made by a third party company, but the PSP has had a lot. And with the PSP getting even more AAA games than the DS, but the DS is still outselling it, so the only other reason the Wii would win is if the consumer just keeps mindlessly buying Wiis. There is one other thing, for all the 1/2 of you that have read this whole post, that a lot of people bought a DS and a DS Lite, or bought a couple DSs, a couple DS Lites, or even all of the different colors released in their region. So, when you factor in this probably not being a part of the Wii, it will be a lot harder for the Wii to outsell even the 360. And, in order for either Nintendo or Microsoft to win this time, they have to make something bigger than Mario or Halo, or maybe even both combined, as the number of people that are waiting for a price drop or more AAA games for the PS3 until they buy it is simply staggering. The Wii will have it's fifteen minutes of fame, just like the 360 had it's fifteen minutes of fame, in 2008, it's the PS3's turn.

Well I know at least 25 people who own a DS, and I have not heard any one of them complain about lack of good games. Most of them are too busy trying to play the ones from 2005 still, let alone the new ones from 2006. You make it sound like everyone in the world puts in 100 hours a week playing video games. I have no idea if PSP is any good though as I know no one with one and I've never picked one up before, but you are right the DS is selling alot by name alone, but so is the PSP. You see there are alot of bad rated games, and games you would never think to play but a Nintendo hand held is aimed at smaller children that do not need a triple a game to have fun. Enough of that, this is a thread about PS3 predictions. I have friends who are just now buying the PS2, and if you look at sales I believe you can link this to the overall trend. It shows that even though the PS3 is out now, its predecessor the PS2 is still very popular. I believe this will negatively affect the overall sales for at least the next 2 years minimum. For this reason I am going to say that the PS3 will only sell 4-5 Million worldwide in 2007, and 5-6 Million in 2008 for a total of 9-11 Million by the end of 2008. I know this sounds like a small amount but unless there is a price drop I just do no see anyone buying one anytime soon, and why should they really. The PS2 has an extremely large catalog, and the graphics are still very good. Many people that I've talked to see no reason to leave the last generation just yet and I don't blame them.

I agree !!! it's impossible to imagine that the PS3 will sell more than 5M by the end of March'07, realy impossible even with a cut-prices I can't imagine that but after March I mean after the European Lunch the next gen war gonna be fun realy fun. Forza Nintendo !!!

Worldwide totals: Nov. 500K 500K Dec. 900K 1.4M Jan. 1M 2.4M Feb. 1.2M 3.6M Mar. 1.2M 4.8M I'm thinking Sony will miss the 6M PS3 mark by 1.2M, and will announce a $50 or $100 price cut for the U.S. and a $50 price cut for Japan on March 31st. This is if things go wrong: Nov. 500K 500K Dec. 900K 1.4M Jan. 1M 2.4M Feb. 600K 3M Mar. 600K 3.6M Missing the mark by 2.4M, but still announcing the U.S. price cut. (Industry reports think Sony will drop the price around 4-6M sold, and March 31st (the end of their fiscal year) would be perfect for their share prices.

I don't think you nailed it there good chum!
