We just got a new 61" DLP HDTV, and with it came 3 free Blu-ray movies. We have been trying to decide whether to wait on a Blu-Ray player, or to go ahead and get a PS3.

So I was wondering what good games are on the system right now, and those that are confirmed to be coming between now and August, so I can decide whether it is worth the investment. Good PS2 games would be appreciated as well, since I did not have a PS2 either. Include special deals on games/systems if you know them please.

So what titles do you guys recommend?

Well, Devil May Cry 4 is coming out-of course the reviews say it's pretty hard and you should be a hardcore player to get the most enjoyment out of the game.

How is the difficulty compared to 3? That game was masochistic.

If you're going to get a BD player before August, get a PS3. It has a full function Internet browser (though the Flash is kind of outdated), and 1080p dvd upscaler, and probably the best multimedia player out there. (it plays mp1, mp2, mp4, wmv/vc-1, and divx video formats; jpeg, bmp, tiff, png, and gif photo formats; and mp3, aac, wav, wma, and atrac audio formats) you can also play cds and dvds and stream media from any DLNA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DLNA) compatable device. And of course, you get the games, Blu-ray player, and access to the PlayStation Store for downloadable games/content and free online multi-player gaming via the PlayStation Network.

ok, I'm not trying to sound like a salesman here, but seriously, if you're going to get a BD player, it's definately worth it to spend the extra money for a PS3

I like most genres, I will play anything if its fun. Don't like Gran Turismo (or racing in general), Final Fantasy can be good (VI, VII) or bad (VIII, XI, XII) for me. I only play shooters if they are excellent.
My favorite genres are fighters, survival horror, RPG, platformer, strategy, and whatever genre you consider Legend of Zelda to be in.
Other things I like are long games, games that are challenging (but not sadistic), and I don't really have a preference on multiplayer vs. single player. I also don't really care about graphics.
Also, is it worth paying $100 more for the 80 GB? I didn't have a PS2, so I'd like to have BC, but that's a lot of money to put down.
Is the PS3 reliable? That was one of the reasons I didn't get a PS2.

about 100$ and BC, who know, maybe on GDC SOny will announce new SKU, maybe 40GB will have total software BC, NOBODY knows.
