It is oficial: Brazil has the most expensive Xbox One in the world, at a price of R$ 2200 (around 1050 U$D).

Why, do you ask? Taxes.

The brazilian tributary model has been in place for decades and it is totally out of touch with reality. The government takes a 72% slice of the consoles prices, which makes importing a better option for brazilian gamers.

But, not by much, the taxes fury of Brazil is no less agressive in regards of imports: any gamer that dares to buy an imported console has to pay 60% of taxes to receive his product.

That is pretty steep. I guess agitating for change won't do much good as the numba of console gamers probably isn't that high in Brazil.
