Forums - Gaming - Dudebro games is offensive

No, it shouldn't be moderated. I also don't believe it really refers to the games themselves as much as it does a particular demographic. Games like CoD or Madden can be played by anyone, not just by a certain group, so anyone trying to pigeonhole them that way will just look ignorant, the same as someone trying to link platformers with children.

That being said, I consider the practice of dissing one genre or another to be asinine and childish. It's a bit amusing to watch people pout because certain genres sell millions of units than their own favorite genre but it's also really annoying. If someone doesn't like FPS games then all they bloody have to do is NOT PLAY THEM. Instead, some people choose to whine about how developers need to switch to other genres, which is silly since this is the most diverse generation we've ever had.

And, yeah, I'm mostly looking at the platformer elitists who think you can only have fun if a game centers around jumping.

Fanboy is a stupid reason for bans too.

Website is tailored to Kindergarteners, despite the majority of the community being adults.

You're not only satisfied being treated as such, but encouraging even more childish ban reasons.

Calling someone a fanboy is perfectly reasonable for banning.  It is basically flaming.  Calling someone a fanboy also is meant as an insult and is childish bevahior all in one.

Just what we need: more bans for trivial matters.

Grow a pair.

It should be monitored just like fanboy is monitored.  If it is meant as an insult depending on the context something is said it should be banned.

I agree with you. It's real hard for me to get offended, bye what someone saids behind a computer screen. If I disagree with someone and I don't want to argue with them,I do this thing called going to another thread. I also do this thing called turning off my computer and doing something else.

Very good points pokoko.  This has been the most intelligent post thus far.  Even if I don't agree with everything I do appreciate the response :)

Not really, the person behaving as a fanboy is the child. The one calling them out for it is doing a service to the community.

lol No,  I press for a better community.   I think VGC is very capable of having a great community if we can weed out trolls.  Of course there is no way of having a perfect community and VGC actually does good in a lot of ways but it could still improve on things.  If VGC allowed the word fanboys then you would see a lot more arguing on this website from people.  Every thread would probably end in an argument if this was the case.  Look at youtube comments and you will see what I am talking about.  People visit forums to talk about the hobby they love.  Not to be attacked.

The problem is not that someone is behaving like a fanboy.  Often times people gets called a fanboy for just liking a company's game such as Killzone more than halo.  Example  would be "I like Killzone more than halo".  Then user number 2 comes and says "Wow, you must be some kind of fanboy."  pr something of that nature.  It should never be allowed for these reasons.  Fanboy is actually allowed on this site, just dont use it as a way of insulting somebody.
