Forums - PC - A PC gamer reborn.......(not really)

I'm going to make this short and sweet. I've been into PC gaming since I first popped in the shareware verison of quake. Aside from Doom, Quake was the one that got me into FPSs on PC. I was just a kid then (10 years old) But the game amazed me.

But due to the (initial) highcosts of building a gaming PC years later, my interest in PC gaming dwindled. Although I was still playing certain games like Quake III arena. Thats all I played up until WarCraft III (again the only game I play). Yet my old pC with an Intel celeron D and 256mb of ram was still too weak to handle said games.

The reason why I posted this thread is that I want to get back into pc gaming but given my current PC, I don't think it has the snuff to handle the latest games with it's current hardware.

It's a Lenovo K330B 77471QU

Intel Core i5 2.9 GHz

8GB RAM

1.5TB SATA HDD

An AMD Radeon HD 6450

Let me know what I need and if you need more info.

Build your own. It's not all that hard to do, and there's plenty of guides around there. If opting for that PC, tell us of the power supply voltage. And get a better GPU - a Radeon 7750 for example.

It certainly can play 99% of the games released in the last two years (exceptions being maybe Metro Last Light and Crysis 3) on high settings. Overclock your CPU to 4GHz if you think some games run a bit sluggish, but it should do quite well for ~1 - 1.5 more year(s).

What kind of "play" are you expecting on a HD6450, exactly?

I have a HD4850 and a E8500 (overclocked to 4GHz) as a CPU and still can play games like the new Tomb Raider on High Details. So, with a PC even better than mine I expect FLUID "play" with his PC.

It's still somewhat decent CPU (i5 2310), so it should serve you for quite a while if you buy some good GPU. Some links to help you with decision:

I am not the best techie around here but that 6450 is a very low range card. I bet your gpu can do better than his ;p

OT: if you don't want the best of the best just upgrade that gpu and you'll be fine. Edit: ofcourse make sure the new gpu fits in there...

Oh, mistook the HD6450 for the HD6850 -_-

Just replace the graphics card. The rest is fine.

I'm also stupid a bit. I thought you wanted to get it, rather than it being the one you have. Reading fail.
Anyway, upgrade the GPU ;)
