Forums - PC - Looking for a GPU Upgrade for the coming generation

I thought it went from GK104 to 110 or something, though I guess that isn't a huge leap. I haven't been paying 100% attention since my 670 is running very nicely and I won't need an upgrade for at least another year

Exactly.... the same generation.

GK2xx is the new generation.

Alright, i will probably wait it out for a little longer then. Maybe then i will have a better budget to play with as well.

@disolitude

I've never had the best of luck with overclocking. I have my CPU overclocked but it is just from software that came with the motherboard and most people in forums claimed it was safe even with stock cooling as it wasnt very extreme (3.07 to 3.70 GHz).

Plus, even though I doubt it matter much, but the GPUs are supposed to be factory overclocked. By how much I am not sure. Nor would I know how to even go about overclocking them.

I had 580s in sli watercooled and i was running them at 925mhz if i remember correctly. Memory too had some crazy overclock...

You could get a solid 15% increase in performance from stock by overclocking but if you already have an overclocked card, the gains may not be that great.

If you really want to change things up now,  you could sell them and pick up 2 gtx760s. Much lower power consumption, less heat output and less noise... Plus cool new features like adaptive vsync, more vram and possibly 5-10% better performance.

Okay, thanks, I will probably go for a second 670 though instead of an 870 unless it is a HUGE boost

I'm putting a GTX 780 Overclocked in my rig for next gen. I currently have a GTX 660 overclocked.

GTX 780 would be a perfect GPU for next gen and many years to come.
