That could only work in countries where the price is final, but in the US (as far as I know) the advertized price is the one without taxes.

That was the point. That the card would be advertised as $1999 but when they pay they'd have to add the VAT and end up at $2100 in the US...

Doesn't different states have different taxes? And I also thought that, by bying online from other states, some could avoid to pay some of those taxes.

I'm thinking die stacking will be the most viable commercial technology going forward instead of multiple dies these can't scale down to mobile devices. Well, there's thermal constraits to both but spatial constraints only to one of them.

RTX 3090 rumored to cost around $2000. Jensen needs more fuel for his Ferrari's.

So one interesting thing I found is that because the currency in that article is CNY. If you google 2080 Ti in websites that are based in China, they have a very similar price in CNY but we know that 2080 Ti in the west is much cheaper.

https://www.qoo10.sg/item/MSI-RTX-2080-TI-LIGHTNING-Z-11GB-RE-PRE-ORDER-AGAIN-PRE-CNY-CRAZY/641985954

Now I don't shop in China but I am pretty sure prices there are much more expensive than prices here so doing a direct conversion like the article did probably won't pan out. (Least I hope not loll)

Luckily, we're not the ones that have to find the way going forward.

You’ll need a Facebook account to use future Oculus headsets

https://www.theverge.com/2020/8/18/21372435/oculus-facebook-login-change-separate-account-support-end-quest-october

"Oculus will soon require all of its virtual reality headset users to sign up with a Facebook account. The Facebook-owned company says it will start removing support for separate Oculus accounts in October, although users can maintain an existing account until January 1st, 2023. All users can maintain a distinct “VR profile” with a separate friends list.

Starting later this year, you’ll only be able to sign up for an Oculus account through Facebook. If you already have an account, you’ll be prompted to permanently merge your account. If you don’t, you’ll be able to use the headset normally until 2023, at which point official support will end. Old headsets using non-linked accounts will still work, but some games and apps may no longer function"

Well fuck you too

Yeah it is a bit high. While it 3090 will be most likely be more expensive than the 2080ti. Who knows, maybe Nvidia can throw us a bone and be sensible for once lol.

I bought my Oculus Rift before the buyout and I regret. I'll probably keep it couple years and move onto Vive. Fuck that noise.. Not giving away any more of my personal data away. Google already has that covered :P

i got an account already does that mean im set to play without FB even on newer VR sets?

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Sounds like it yeah. You have until the end of 2023 until regular Oculus accounts are deactivated and you are forced to use Facebook to use your HMD.
