Switch Emulator is in the works by the same people who brought us Citra (3ds emulator).

Obviously it's far too early to do anything with at the moment, but will be interesting to see how long before games become playable, perhaps even faster than the WiiU?

CEMU benefited from WiiU using the same tech as Wii, so the emulator was easier to do as a big chunk of the work was already done.

I don't think Switch will be emulated as fast as WiiU but, with the machine using regular Tegra chips, I doubt it will take long. Maybe 12-18 months?

Well Cemu's initial release was 3 years after the WiiU came out, so another 12-18 months would still be sooner.

It really took that long? Wow. In that case... maybe by 2020?

Please excuse my bad English.

Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

"NieR Automata gets a new fan HD Texture Pack that is over 1GB in size, overhauling lots of textures"
The game really needed this.
Square Enix / Platinum Games really should put in some effort.

As for Yuzu:
" At this time, yuzu does not run any commercial Switch games. yuzu can boot some games, to varying degrees of success, but does not implement any of the necessary GPU features to render 3D graphics."
https://github.com/yuzu-emu/yuzu

It is great to see that we will be getting an open source emulator this time.
Hopefully they can overtake Cemu within a year or two.
Nintendo is bringing all of their major games to the Switch anyways.
BotW should hopefully be able to get better performance on this.

I think Platinum is the kind of company that would like to improve the performance and graphics of NieR, but they can't really afford it without S-E paying them to do it.

After all, they're not charity and they need someone that pays the expenses related to work on an already released game.

I got an i7 6850k and a GTX1080. CPU is not overclocked and I don't intend to do so.
All I know is that I had issues since I have this system and they seem to have worsened since the last Windows patch.

Your CPU is a good 20% faster than mine at stock. You shouldn't be struggling with multi-tasking if I'm not.

I assume RL is Rocket League?

Yes.

I doubt it's an issue with the CPU and rather with the system and software. It's not that it's not fast enough, it's doing constant 144fps just fine.... until it doesn't.

Have you seen the textures in the game.
It looks like they just took the PS4 textures (they look pretty bad for a PS4 too), and slapped them in the PC version.
Platinum should have been mastering the game's textures at a much higher resolution / quality.
High res assets should be sitting on a hard drive, in their office.
If higher res assets don't exist, then it is incompetence.

Assuming the higher res textures do exist, Square Enix is most likely at fault.

This is why I'm not all that impressed with the snippets of gameplay they showed off for FFXV PC edition, because half the textures looked muddy and rather low res, especially that mini boss mob with the scarred eye. His horn and skin decal detail looked like it was ripped from current gen systems, rather than being remade from the ground up.

Take that with the lack of improvements to the game's LoD and object render distance. The only things that stand out on the PC edition are the fluffy Nvidia hair strands (which will likely eat up a ton of GPU power, despite there being little fluff in that game) and a few texture details (rather than all the texture details).

I don't see SE pulling out all the stops for the XV PC port, just like they didn't with Nier. A lot of AAA companies hardly bother pulling out all the stops for consoles and for PC, as to them it doesn't make extra dosh for putting in that pinch more effort. To me, going that little extra mile would make me want to replay the game over and over, as well as talking more about it to others, but because most of them go with the low effort approach, I find little to gush over as it's all about cutting corners with game development to them.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Nier: Automata, was an assault on my eyes.
I can go back into the game to get some more screenshots if you want.
Currently I only have these four; they are not remotely near the lowest lows that game hits.

Ah, I don't think texture quality is the optimal hill to die on, for FFXV PC.
FFXV seems to have a clear boost to texture resolution from what I have seen.
Remember: the port is still mid process.
I think a better point to hold against the port would be character and world, poly counts.
Hopefully Square Enix implements tessellation into the port.

I think the most important thing to watch with XV will be community support.
Is Square Enix going to chuck the game on PC, and be done with it.
Hopefully PC players are given modding tools and an outlet to express themselves.

Oh and while I am at it, here are some Star Citizen Alpha 3.0 screenshots.

An assault on your eyes? How do you manage to play early 3D PC games then?
