Anyone heard of the cool new invention of BFGD? Some people have decided that it would be cool to game on monitors that are bigger than calculator screens.

https://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/bfgd-big-format-gaming-display

So now we have 65" 4k HDR screens with built in Nvidia Shield. Which means it has an android platform and can be used for everything but watching TV.

I'm kinda excited but I cannot imagine proper quality on those and the price and available choice will probably be a joke. But it's a start.

Woah, it is like a monitor, but not small.
How does Jenson come up with this stuff.

Joking aside it sounds pretty cool.
And they even throw in a free Switch inside the TV too, nice.

If only it could play Switch games, we would have that Switch TV.
Too cheap to buy a portable Switch?
Buy one of these instead.

Would be cool if Spectre somehow leads to workable exploits for consoles.

Hmm.
I doubt it.

Are the Jaguar cores even that advanced.
The Switch though, maybe.
I am not sure.

Also consoles don't really handle mission critical information, so yeah.
It could be a boon for reverse engineering some games or OS features, I guess.

I meant specifically the Switch and specifically an exploit that gains enough information about the system to create an emulator.

Given how off the shelf the Switch is.
Given how popular Nintendo seems to be in the emulation scene.
Given how weak the Switch's hardware is.

I would not be surprised to see an emulator for the launch of the next Zelda title.
With or without a Spectre exploit.
I am also unsure if it is possible, though I guess a quick search would reveal that info.

Also:
Didn't Microsoft poke around in the Jaguar cores for the XxX.
Now that would be funny.

The problem is everyone already has an X1X emulator.

And I ask again, at what distance? A 65" display won't be used as a regular monitor, but instead it will be used as a gaming TV of sorts.

Then how am I typing this right now? I tell you how. Because right now I am using my 65" TV as a PC monitor, like I have done for the past 2 years since I had this 65" TV. And now you come again and tell me that a 65" monitor won't be used as a regular PC monitor. This TV has never been used for actual gaming or TV. And did I mention it's 65" and in front of my couch in my living room?

I know you can use a TV as a monitor, I'm just saying that "you" can't use one of that size the same way "you" use a regular monitor. It's so big that you have to sit far away from it.

And you still haven't answered the question, at what distance do you sit from that 65" TV?

HTC Vive Pro: https://www.theverge.com/2018/1/8/16863136/new-htc-vive-pro-vr-headset-announced-ces-2018

It goes from 1080 x 1200 to 1400 x 1600 per eye. Not bad, but it doesn't mention the refresh rate of the screens.

And it doesn't mention price either.

*Edit* Found the refresh rate, the same 90Hz and 110º FOV. Also the wireless adapter could be a big plus for VR.

I still don't understand what you mean.

I sit about 3m away from it and use it exactly as my normal gaming monitors, minus the gaming.

Well, that's the point. Most of us still use our PC from a desk, with our monitor in front of us (mine is at an arms length), and that makes monitors this big not suitable to use.

Did I not express myself properly when I said it was not a monitor? Yes. But I still stand that this is a product for PC gamers that game on their living room, but not for many/most of us.
