Can't say I've had that happen to me (yet). I suppose the tip offs were random Steam emails showing in the inbox?. I won't install CCleaner until everything has been sorted out.

Yeah. It was random Steam emails in the Inbox. They are legitimate emails as well, not spoofed.
I have Email AND SMS verification turned on, so they won't be able to gain complete control of my account, if you haven't done something similar, I highly suggest you do it.

It's just a perpetual pain in my posterior having to change all my passwords all the time. (As my passwords are all deviations of each other to make remembering easier.)

Might actually do that this week. I'll also have to sort one out with Battlenet sometime.

Anyway, a while ago we talked on this thread about PC cases in form of desks, how cool they were and how they were impossible to find anymore. Well, I found a marvel()ous company that makes not one, but two models!

The company is called Hydra, and it's from Italy: https://www.hydra-shop.com/

The temptation to state "Hail Hydra" when conversing with the company would be overwhelming.

$1,000 Euro is a bit much though, that equates to like $1,500 AUD.

Indeed. That's why I make the marvelous pun.

And yeah, even the small one is very expensive. And for you it would be almost impossible to get one as they don't ship down there.

Now here is a pleasant surprise for all PC fans of platform games. GOG and Oddworld Inhabitants are offering the first Oddworld game, Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, for free. Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee is a classic platformer that was released for the first Playstation in which players take the role of a first class Mudokon floor-waxer for RuptureFarms, Abe.

>>It's a must have game!

Already had it. Played it to death many many many years ago.
Worth it for the low price of nothing.

I bought and played it on PSOne, on PC (physical, WinXP) and then on Steam. It's a very good game.

By the way, it's also on free on Steam and the Humble Store.

Also has anyone had russian I.P's gain access to their Steam account over the last 6 months? It's becoming retardedly common for me.
Changed passwords more times than I can count (For Steam and all my online accounts)... Didn't install Steam or Use Steam... Didn't open emails... Made profile private... Lots of Virus and Maleware scans. Nope. They still gain access.
Even when using 20 character long passwords with capitals and numbers.

I am *hoping* it's due to CCleaner. So I have uninstalled that for the time being.

Luckily I haven't had such problem yet. It's scary how weak seems to be the Steam security.

I also don't use CCleaner, I prefer DDU for uninstalling drivers.

Companies refusing to ship/post to Australia isn't a new concept for me.
There are actually businesses in places like the USA, UK etc' who will accept items to be delivered to their address in those countries... And they will handle the international shipping for a small extra fee.

So if you going to plonk $1,500 on an item and you *really* want it, there are ways. :)

If they are charging 40/50 € for an internal delivery in Italy, the cost to ship it to Australia/NZ would be as much as the cost of the desk itself.

That said, that's what Hydra themselves do. They list 3 italian stores (plus mention Newegg for the big one) that I don't know if they do deliver worldwide.

Valve aims to combat Steam review bombing with new 'histogram' charts
http://www.pcgamer.com/valve-aims-to-combat-steam-review-bombing-with-new-histogram-charts/
"Review-bombing" is a coordinated effort to damage the public profile of a company or product by inundating it with negative reviews. Actual problems with the product in question often have nothing to do with it: Dota 2 got hammered last month because Valve won't make Half-Life 3, and more recently Firewatch suffered because of Sean Vanaman's beef with Pewdiepie. As we reported earlier this summer, it happens because it works, and it's become enough of a problem that Valve has finally been forced to address the issue.

NVIDIA claimed that this new NFS game was running in 4K and with 60fps on a single NVIDIA GeForce GTX1080Ti. Google acquires part of HTC's smartphone business for $1.1 billion
https://www.techspot.com/news/71069-google-htc-smartphone-deal.html
Google and HTC have officialized a deal under which a portion of HTC employees, many of whom were already working with Google developing Pixel phones, will join Google. As part of the agreement, HTC will receive US$1.1 billion in cash from Google. Conversely, the search giant and Android developer will receive a non-exclusive license for HTC intellectual property.

HTC will continue to operate its smartphone business separately, which according to the company has a team of engineers currently working on their next flagship phone to follow the HTC U11, which we recently reviewed and praised. HTC will also continue to work on Vive VR, Internet of Things, augmented reality and artificial intelligence, all of which will remain independent to the Google deal.

Intel Delays 10nm "Cannon Lake" to Late-2018

Intel is reportedly delaying the roll-out of its first processors built on its 10 nanometer silicon fabrication process, codenamed "Cannon Lake" for the third time since its inception. The first products based on the silicon will now come out only by late-2018. In the meantime, Intel could continue to ride on its new 8th generation Core "Coffee Lake" processors, including the augmentation of an 8-core mainstream desktop (MSDT) part in the second-half of 2018.

>>It's the third time Intel delays Cannon Lake and its 10nm process, that should have already been on the market by now.

Shift was one of the first racers that implemented a spectacular cockpit view and was more sim than any other part of the NFS series (excluding NFS: Porsche Unleashed). Now since both Shift and Shift 2 were commercially successful, a lot of racing fans have been wondering why there wasn’t Shift 3 and why Slightly Mad Studios decided to create the Project CARS series. And according to Ian Bell, that was all due to EA.
