Coffee Lake will be using "1151" pins. But won't be compatible with the "1151" socket.
That's going to confuse a ton of people.

Coffee Lake i5 8600K and i7 8600K should give Ryzen 5 1600/1600X a sound beating, not just in single threaded scenario's, but multi-threaded as well which is where Ryzen typically dominates.

The Core i3 8350K should beat the Ryzen 3 1200, 1300X, Ryzen 5 1400 and 1500X.

Don't be surprised if AMD cuts pricing and re-aligns their entire product stack.

The Core i5 8600K could be the next "5 year" CPU, just like the Core i5 2500K, Core 2 Quad Q6600 etc' ended up being, if you are running an older CPU, that is the chip to get in my eyes.

In the span of 6 months we have essentially seen performance jump 50% and prices drop across the board. All thanks to AMD.
This is why Competition is a good thing and being brand-loyal is not a good thing.

****

Also. Vegas pricing is garbage right now. Shame on AMD.

Yeah, at this point, I'm being forced to get a gtx 1080 because of this and they're trying to optimize mining performance for Vega(it's not a good card for miners tho). Anyway I will start order gtx 1080 this Thursday.

"Experiment" is a bit far-fetched.

It was the foundations of what would come after... And like you, believe that Zen+ should make up for allot of Ryzens inherant shortcomings.
But that is probably still a good 9+ months away.

Before Zen came along it was just AMD's dead last attempt to maintain any sort of relevance ...

For the longest time AMD used to a distant second but they came closest with Zen in comparison to the rest of their last decade ...

I also don't believe Zen+ will rectify much of Zen's issues. AMD needs a new microachitecture (Zen 2) and possibly a new socket if needed to be competitive ... (AMD shouldn't just stay on one socket if it means they can be more opportunistic about microachitectural optimizations)

Pemalite said:

Indeed.

AMD's marketshare was at it's zenith when it was soundly beating Intel for years.
Intels Anti-Competitive practices didn't help things though.

The 'anti-competitive practices' excuse is played too much, there's a reason why AMD decided to settle the case outside of court instead of pushing Intel for paying even further damages ...

It's not Intel's fault that AMD floundered in their hardware design for a decade ...

Pemalite said:

Price is always a factor. Always. To what degree really depends on the market segment.

Sure it is but expecting that your technically superior competitor won't compete in price in that segment that your targetting is foolish ...

Take it as an advance of the news:

HTC drops price of Vive VR headset to $600
http://www.pcgamer.com/htc-drops-price-of-vive-vr-headset-to-600/
VR's getting cheaper for everybody. As of today, HTC is dropping the price of the Vive headset to $600 (and £600), bringing it closer to the recently reduced price of the Oculus Rift headset. While the Oculus is still available for $400 as part of a summer sale, that price will soon rise to $500, including the Rift and its Touch controllers and a nice collection of free games. The Vive also comes with its own pair of Touch controllers and a one month free subscription to Viveport, which includes access to software like Tiltbrush and Everest VR.

See a full level of sci-fi action game Echo being played
http://www.pcgamer.com/see-a-full-level-of-sci-fi-action-game-echo-being-played/
Echo was announced in August of 2016 as a third-person sci-fi action-puzzler—quite a description by any measure—about a woman named En who awakens from a century in stasis to find herself trapped inside a palace that's guarded by "Echoes" of herself. We've all been there. These echoes learn and mimic your behavior, but only the things you do in the light—and they can only "learn" during blackouts. Yes, it sounds weird (which I tend to see as a plus), but the new gameplay trailer released today by developer Ultra Ultra helps make a little more sense of it all.

Disagree.
Lots of companies settle out of court, because court is expensive and can be drawn out... And the PR can potentially be damaging to a brand.

Intel was Anti-Competitive because they were locking AMD out of the OEM market.
And because Intel locked AMD out of the OEM Market... AMD wasn't able to capitilize on their significant technological advantage they had over Intel.

I am so excited for this. Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis was a damn good game.
But if they can stay true to that formula, they have a winner in my opinion.

The only criticism can give is that it's not Blue Tongue that is developing the game, but considering they closed a while back, that's expected.

The reason why AMD settled out of court was because they got a better deal on settling outside of court rather going through the trial LOL ...

AMD wouldn't have been able to prove much more in damages that Intel inflicted on them since their production volume was still low in comparison to Intel's ...

If AMD was only able to produce 50K CPUs over the period Intel started their anti-competitive practices then Intel would only pay that much worth in damages ... (If AMD had huge supply chains then things would've arguably been different.)

AMD's Bristol Ridge Socket AM4 APU's have come into availability in Australia.

The fastest is the A12 9800 "Quad-Core" with a 3.8ghz base clock and 4.2ghz turbo clock, 512 GCN 1.3 GPU @ 1108mhz.

And seems to be a stupidly potent clocker.

The real kicker is that it is priced the same as Ryzen 3 1200 @ $149 AUD.
And IMHO is a great HTPC chip. - And should be capable of running most games at 720P.

The other Bristol Ridge chips fill in all the other price points under Ryzen 3, right down to the half-priced ($75 AUD) Dual-Core chip. (Eww.)
This is likely the answer to Intels Celeron and Pentium.
